I came here with a group of girlfriends for lunch and we were able to be seated immediately. The menu is extensive, but straight to the point. The margaritas were great and the food is the best I've had outside of Mexico.

Had a lot of fun last night at dinner here. The chips and salsa were fresh and amazing. My wife had a combo with a few items and she loved it. I had carnitas that were just too good to be true. The margaritas are the star here though! Definitely will be back.

Went on a Thursday night and it was packed! We knew all those people couldn't be wrong. Thankfully we had reservations and didn't have to wait too long. The restaurant appears to be a "Mom & Pop" operation and they couldn't have been nicer. The service was great (free soda and chip refills- without having to ask!!). The homemade guacamole... More

Took my family. Got right in. The food was very good and so was the staff. But it was coming faster than we could finish it. We ordered our drinks and before we could start to enjoy them, the apps were coming. Then just after we started eating our apps, the main food was being delivered. So we ended not... More

(DTLA location rated; opposite L.A. Live) A roomy, boisterously loud and fun spot, with satisfying, generously-portioned and flavorful food. Server Stephani was topnotch; efficient and genuinely friendly, with no attitude at all. Our margaritas (strong and good-sized) came with lemon garnish ablaze (!), a visual treat. Open late, El Compadre is a perfect Staples Center/L.A. Live post-event chow joint.

We visited El Compadre in the beginning of november 2014. We are two Swedish Couples driving from San Francisco to LA just to get the feeling of California. Even if november isn't the best month for that we still enjoyed our trip a lot. Just by chance we found this really nice and genuine mexican. The music and sound level... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
