FOR A GREAT PASTRAMI.....

I have been eating at this restaurant since the mid-1960s when I would drive from 20th Century Fox Studios during lunch hour for a GREAT PASTRAMI which I couldn't find at the Studio's Commissary and then rush back to the Sound Stage.

Having been to Canter's before, I knew what to expect it when I came in. When you walk into Canter's you are greeted by amazing looking pastries. While much of LA is about what is trendy Canters is a classic. I had the pastrami ruben, it did not disappoint, one of the best rubens I've ever had. The best part... More

It was on our list to visit as recommended as one of the best "diners" for food. It went above our expectations and in fact we craved the food and ate there three times! Located in downtown with a parking lot next to it. Traditional Kosher deli with Huge free pickles for appetizers. We ate lunch, dinner, and breakfast there... More

Canter's is a landmark that you can depend upon. We don't get there often, so we really look forward to the kosher-style menu choices when we do go.

I love this place. A real deli. Service is great delivered by people who have worked there forever. Deli counter is at the front. They have bagels but no bialys. Shucks. The restaurant is as enormous as the menu. No one batted an eye when eight of us came in and asked for a table. We were shown to a... More

I like Canter's for breakfast only. I don't consider Canter's the best deli in town. It's just a landmark eatery that's been around for over 50 years. I think their prices are too high and the lunch and dinner is just okay, and nothing to write home about. A coffee shop can compete with Canter's just fine. On a positive... More

Many restaurants give you a big slice of bread or roll and little contents. Canters gives you a sandwich which is stacked with the meat and virtually no bread or roll. For a modest amount I had a 1/2 turkey sandwich, potato salad, bowl of matzo ball soup. The matzo ball was delicate and very large in a nicely flavored... More

Basically its a deli that is opened 24 hours but that doesn't even touch it. Great staff with positive attitudes. Delicious baked goods besides.

Great deli sandwiches, breakfast all day and fabulous pastries in a diner that dates back several decades. Nothing fancy just good service and food in a comfortable, funky atmosphere. Matzo ball soup a little flat and not as good as I remember
