Heard about Canters from a website and decided to make it a stop on my LA trip. Being a NY "lifer" I've had plenty of great deli in my time and wondered how this would stack up. Well, I was definitely not disappointed. Excellent deli in a vintage setting. Two of us ordered sandwiched, one pastrami and one corned beef-great... More

I’d been to Canter’s a couple of times in the past, but hadn’t been in years, so when my girlfriend got a Groupon I was looking forward to trying the place again. I hadn’t been impressed on my earlier visits, and unfortunately I wasn’t impressed this time, either. My girlfriend and I both got the soup and half a sandwich... More

No visit to Los Angeles is complete without a visit to Canter's Deli. It's like stepping back in time. Original vintage decor, waitress's that look like they stepped out of a fifties movie & sensational traditional Jewish Deli food. Stop at the bakery on your way out and grab a bag of Blintze's. Plus it's open 24 hours so a... More

I have been trying to hit "famous" delis when I travel and decided to try Canter's on a recent trip to LA. Totally awesome. Ok, the decor is leftover from the 60s but that didn't really mean too much. The food is totally excellent. I had the traditional corned beef and excellent potato salad and the others in my group... My review was really leaning toward a 4 star, but I gave it 3 stars because of the subpar service. Perhaps Canter's has surly service because its an LA institution? Or, perhaps they brought the NYC attitude so you can "feel" you're eating in a NYC style deli? Or, perhaps this place is located in such a touristy area, that... More

Met old friends at Canters and we were greeted warmly by staff. Flooded with good memories of the neighborhood and Canter's and was not disappointed. The service was good, both friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my poached egg on rye with a good cup of coffee. As we left, stopped at the counter for sliced pastrami and corned beef to take... More

Canter's Deli has a lot of history and great people watching place. It is lively. The food isn't necessarily the greatest, but the experience is flavorful. Parking can be a big pain.

I used to LOVE Canter's. I still do love Canters for late night bites and music. The bar bands are always fun. I stopped loving Canter's food when I got a plate of pickles with a worm in a pickle. I know they can't control that bc it probably happened at the farm or packaging place, but it is still... More

As New York natives who live in Colorado, we crave good deli. Canter's hit the spot. The pastrami was the best. I loved the chopped liver, corned beef and sour pickles. And the rainbow cookies brought back wonderful childhood memories.

My group wanted to try Canter's because of its rich history and we enjoyed the experience. We were able to find space in the parking lot next door and liked viewing the mural of Los Angeles Jewish History on the side of the building. Okay, so the chicken soup was bland and I could do better myself, but my son... More
