When I Can't Make it to NYC

My favorite sandwich is the corned beef and pastrami on rye with Russian dressing, sometimes cole slaw in the sandwich, depends on the deli. I've ordered this same sandwich at every deli I've been to and Canter's is in the top 5. That's including all of the famous NY delis and some in LA. I... read more

Our tour guide recommended this place and we are glad we went. Several soups, sandwiches, pastries, full dinners, & breakfast items to choose from. Good for when your party wants different things! It's not fancy, just good food. 😊

As close to a NY deli as the West Coast gets. I don't know when they last updated the decor, and that's part of the charm. Large portions. You can go swimming in the matzoh ball soup. Good omelets and deli sandwiches. You can get breakfast 24 hours a day. They are very accommodating about food requests. For what it's... More

Service is very indifferent, though I happen to believe that is part of the vibe. The food makes up for it. Can't go wrong with the matzo. Hot pastrami on rye is another good choice.

Not having been here in decades just had to go back once more. And not sorry we did. As soon as we entered it had the look that we never had left. Nostalgia at its best. The Matza ball soup, the kishka, the potatoe pancakes, the chicken liver with onions etc.. etc.. ALL superb. The chicken in pot - you... More

Canter's is a West LA landmark with an excellent, long standing reputation for serving up the best authentic deli items, as well as great tasting breakfasts and dinners. My family travels 60 miles round trip every few months to get our 'Canter's fix' which typically starts with a bowl of their unbeatable matzo ball soup, one of their incredible corned... More

Love the Reuben sandwiches at this place. It is their specialty and I can see why. Sweet potato fries are thick and mouthwatering. The pickles are wonderful and I think they are homemade (don't hold me to that though). Bakery is beyond good. Great Jewish deli with a wide selection of foods.

Open 24 hours, serves breakfast 24 hours a day. We were in need of a late casual dinner in the Fairfax area last night and dropped into Canter's. It is almost like time stopped 50 years ago in this diner. The food was great and the prices were reasonable, service was great too. We had Matzo Ball soup, Bacon Caesar... More

Impossible to shock this place with any obscure food requests and a very competent delivery. Helpful staff and delicous food. Excellent for brunch
