i've been coming to FuRaiBo now for a long time, and even with the steady hipsterizing of this strip of Sawtelle, it remains the nice, dark-wood izakaya place it is supposed to be. menus are in English and Japanese. it's famous for its tebasaki chicken, which are a style of fried chicken with a sweetish spicy-ish glaze...however, i never order... I have had several date nights with other couples at this famous Japanese Restaurant. The food is good and service can be slow at times. The wait is so worth it

The service here was awful here. I expected "basic Japanese restaurant customer service" but it was not acceptable. Staffs were chatting about their love relationships or whatever besides their job and I was waiting so much time to get their attention. Also they gave us different person's credit card back and they never say sorry to us. Well, I never... More

I go to this restaurant when I wan t varieties. I guess you could call this a Japanese tapas place. All dishes come in small portion and you get to enjoy them with Japanese bear or sake. The most popular dish is Tebasaki (small chicken wings) I think. My favorite is sweet potato crocket, scallop dish, fish bowl, smoked rice... More

This was our first time here. The plates are nice and small. And that's a good thing! We were able to order a lot of different things and share them among the people around the table. So much fun!

Furaibo is a Japanese restaurant specializing in Yakitori - small skewers of grilled meats. Sort of like Shish Kebab but smaller and just one item type per skewer.. There is no real decor here, it's not fancy at all, rather a bit cramped. The menu lists dozens of dishes with most prices between $2 and $6, so you typically order... More

It's a late night hot spot for younger crowds...the food is ok, but basically, everything is fried...which I like, but cannot eat very often

In the midst of Sawtelle's hip and sleek new eateries, there remain a few, hidden traditional hideaways. FuRaiBo is one. Don't expect 'locally sourced' or 'artisan' signage. This is fresh, basic, balanced and balancing food. Enoki mushrooms and scallops, yakatori beef, salted pike, eggplant with sweet miso sauce. You leave feeling well cared for ... and with your wallet feeling... More

This place looks like a little dive but it's really good. It is a little loud and the tables are very close together but the food is great. Must have the baby halibu, fried fish cake and the chicken wings!!! Bring some people with you so you can try out more dishes. Not a date setting anyway.

Nothing impressive other than there is free parking in the back. The place has not changed for the past decade except for the colour of the logo, which means general renovations are needed. Taste and quality is not as good as a few years ago, the service terse, the seats uncomfortable However, it seems to agree with the MP3 generation... More
