I like this very intimate, cozy, friendly, and artistic restaurant, bar and tables in one room, and only tables in another room (where sushi chefs work. Everything I have eaten here has been delicious! I've been here about 6 times at least...really nice place.

Hama is a low key place in the heart of Venice. A friend told us to sit on the bar side (the right side as you're walking in.) The bar has a cool vibe and plays surf videos on a couple big projection screens. Service was friendly but a bit slow. I am willing to overlook the slow service though... More

This place rocks! The menu is gigantic and the food is served quickly in an appetizing manner. What really made the place for me was the people-watching. You name it and they are there: the couples, the cougars, the families, the surfers, the bikers, the tat crowd. So while you are enjoying your meal, there is a real-time reality show... More

I live near and love to partake in the daily happy hour. Love the blue crab and the cold bamboo sake. Great service at the bar.

We stay in LA five days and three times came here. All the time food was more than good. Good and fast service. But this place is a little bit noisy for my taste it's perfect for fast dinner. Not too much romantic.

I'm staying in Santa Monica for a few days and my cousin picked me up and suggested we go to Hama Sushi in Venice instead of one of the more hot spots in Santa Monica for Sushi. She and her husband would come here weekly on Monday nights while dating before they were married more than 15 years ago. I... More

We had a quick late lunch before heading North. We love Sushi so we were very happy with the quality of the food. The Beef Gyoza was delicate, as was the Miso. All the Sushi and Sashimi selections we tried were fresh and well prepared. Would definitely return.

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
