Great choice in Venice

We had a quick late lunch before heading North. We love Sushi so we were very happy with the quality of the food. The Beef Gyoza was delicate, as was the Miso. All the Sushi and Sashimi selections we tried were fresh and well prepared. Would definitely return.

Husband and I ate here after an international flight so we were beat. It was a Saturday night, packed house, and insanely loud. It was a very young crowd, but that being said, would be a lot of fun if you're in that age range. Wait staff/hostess were the best parts of the experience. Very helpful, efficient, and friendly. Good Sushi place...convenience for me since I can walk here. It has 2 area, one is loud and fun and the other - where I go - is strictly for eating. Youthful with trendy jet-setters, loud music and bar on the other side...but definitely fun!

I'm not a fan of sushi, but this restaurant is a weekly event for my sister and her family. I loved the ambiance. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace for weekend sushi happy hour. Especially loved the crab cake appetizer and the calamari. Service was friendly and attentive. Nice to see the owners of the restaurant available, too. Hamas... More

Great laid back classic California vibe- sit on the outdoor patio, where they play surfing videos when there aren’t any big sporting games on. Great happy hour BUT they only offer happy hour at the bar (approximately 15 seats or so), so go early if you are going on the weekends. Try the sake out of bamboo and the spicy... More

I had an agreement with my hubby that in our two week holiday we would have sushi in LA, and I'm so glad we came across Hama Sushi! The food tasted just heavenly, if you're up for a challenge you need to try the spicy tuna rolls - they are just great. But our experience wouldn't be as nice if... More

I am overwhelmed by sushi options, so I went with a friend who knows more than me. Allowed him to order. What a delicious, authentic sushi place! :) Tiny little dive, but a great find.

We tried lots of dishes and it was good sashimi in CA. We feel it is a good price and the quality is excellent compared to where we are from in London. We tried blue fin tuna and it was divine. The sushi master she was very tentative. We will go back there again if we are in the area.

The happy hour prices are excellent, and the food is always superior. If you're brave, try the don't-sue-me sauce, made from habaneros. The mussels are fabulous, and the sushi is superb. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. They usually show surfing movies on the outsized TV in front of the bar. Very casual. You must show... More

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
