Dining Superbly among the World's Greatest Art Treasures

A feast for the table fit to accompany a feast for the eyes, the Getty Center Restaurant is as much a "must visit" and the Monet, van Gough and Rembrandts. We had the fried oysters (warm, moist and not greasy at all), cheese plate (excellent ensemble of blue, goat and cow), and the risotto (pea... read more

The view is breathtaking, the room has good taste, the service is great (good job Louie), and the clientele very eclectic, very L.A. But the food ,oh the food, it's probably one of the worst meals I have ever had in my life with a hefty price tag, average meal $35. You can't even see what you are eating. A... More

The perfect way to spend the day. We arrived about noon, had lunch and then toured the grounds and the museum. The restaurant was beautiful and elegant with fabulous view. Considering that the museum is free and everything in LA is expensive I don’t understand the whining about price in by some of the other reviewers. Our service was profession,... More

Stunning setting. Simple but creative menu. Excellent preparation. Excellent service. A great place to go for a relaxing pre-dinner walk.

After walking the museum for several hours, my husband and I decided to grab lunch. The food was not abunduant but deliciuos, not the ususal fare in a museum restaurant. Service was excellent and the fresh choices made it difficult to decide what to order. A wonderful break between the morning and afternoon culture immersion.

Setting: gorgeous. Food: very good. Service: insulting. This is a lovely place and it is well worth planning to have dinner (only on Saturdays) while watching the sun set. Be sure to make a reservation. My waiter, unfortunately, was loaded with attitude and gave me a distinct sense of disdain. I was alone, and perhaps he was disappointed at the... More

We shared an appetitzer of Dungeness crab cake with green curry, swarnadwipa, coconut milk, dragon fruit, mango and cilantro stems. Very impressive presentation as well as taste. They served an assortment of rolls, flat breads and bread sticks. We each had a Cobb salad with mixed greens, herb marinated chicken, bacon, blue cheese, cranberries and pecans in a cider dressing. Really worth a visit. Beautiful building, great exhibitions, lovely gardens with a great view of LA. There aren't any trains to get there so either drive or catch a bus from Westwood. You will not be disappointed.

Several years ago I had lunch at the Getty Center restaurant and loved both the atmosphere as well as the cuisine. Unfortunately this time when we went for dinner, we were somewhat disappointed. Prices seemed a bit higher and perhaps they had a change in chefs. While several dishes, especially their pear salad, were outstanding, overall I'd describe the Getty... More

Everything about this restaurant is pleasing. Service is friendly and respectful. Menu and drinks lists offer variety. My husband and I rated the "Cobb" salad as one of the best salads we've had, though I would call it a Cobb-Waldorf fusion. Everyone in our party of 8 rated their meals as excellent. Prices are higher than average in accordance with... More
