The warm, subdued but friendly ambience of Jar provides a back-drop to a rewarding dining experience. This place has a well-deserved reputation for its appetisers, but the four mains chosen by our table also couldn't be faulted. The Kansas steak was probably the best I'd tasted in the US, and other winners were the beef ribs, soft-shelled crabs, pear and... More

Known as a chop house, nothing could be farther from a true description of the restaurant. With dishes ranging from an Asian flavored chicken to pot roast to fresh, wild salmon 36 days a year, the menu is eclectic and everything is good. There are a dozen appetizers from fried clams to the Jar salad (shredded cabbage with prosciutto and... More

Love this place. Come here once a week at least. Steak, fish, salads, veggies: all simple and done to consistent perfection. Margo the bartender is THE BEST. No wonder this place has been here for ages. They treat people right. No snobbery. Just class and solid food every time.

My friends who live in LA surprised me with one of their local go to restaurants. When we entered I found the decor drab, almost like a Resturant you might find in a large uninspired hotel. The food really surprised me. Excellent chops, a special salad with an artisanal goat cheese. The desserts were nicely presented. The chef came over... More

We had dinner at Jar on a Wed evening. We had reservations but probably didn't need them as the restaurant never got past half full. Service was altogether excellent and our foursome tried a good portion of the menu items available that evening. While some items were brilliant, some were only average, and I was expecting perhaps a bit more... More

This review is for the Sunday Brunch. We've dined here in the evenings and have have enjoyed it. The classy ambiance is really dependent on this room being lit at night...so for the Sunday Brunch it was very "bland" in terms of atmosphere. The restaurant had only a few tables with patrons for Sunday Brunch (12:30pm). The brunch menu is... More

I was last here for a birthday dinner hosted by others. In all fairness, the others enjoyed their food but mine was dry and tough (lamb shank) and I had to send it back, not my favorite thing to do. Last time I was here I was also unimpressed but didn't review it at that time. I would recommend it... More

We thought the atmosphere and service in here were a highlight. We came in for a dinner and were pleasantly surprised by dimmed lights and a trendy decor. The staff were very impressive - friendly yet not annoying. My husband had the special lobster salad as an appetiser and it was fresh and tasty. I had the market cherry tomatoes... More

The service and food was all great, the staff very friendly. We were a party of 12 and the service was great. The oysters were perfect. The pot roast was excellent, everyone enjoyed all the items they ordered. The wine list was excellent with great wines. One of the most enjoyable dinning experiences we have had anywhere.
