Recommended by Open Table and I was not disappointed

I found Jar on a Friday evening in LA while staying at a hotel a few blocks away. I didn't want a chain restuarant and say some reviews on Open Table and thought it was worth a try. The only reservations available were 6:30p and 9:30p so I took the earlier one since I had an early morning meeting... read more

JAR is an "Exceptional Culinary Experience" ! . I recently visited JAR from Santa Barbara/Montecito along with two other business associates for a dinner meeting and found this to be one of the finest culinary experiences here on the West Coast. I have been associated with fine luxury hotels and resorts throughout the world where we focus on exceptional cuisine... More

My son and I decided to have a special dinner last week.We booked JAR, having been there before but years ago. We ordered filet mignon, oysters ,a salad, mashed potatos, brussel sprouts. The steaks were literally perfect, the sides-each one was more delicious and consistent than the next. The mashed potatoes were creamy ,buttery and amazing. Our server was savvy... More

How can a restaurant be out of a featured cocktail at 6:30 in the evening? Not an auspicious start!!! The food is fine -- nothing special. We were a party of 5 and had the gamut from the very limited menu. The beef was good, the chicken good, the endive salad really good. I had the special John Dory --... More

Jar is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. It has a retro-contemporary minimalist decor that matches it's menu very well. The updated steakhouse menu offers interesting options. I have never had less than perfect service. This is an upscale experience, perfect for a special occasion.

Some friends and I went to Jar for brunch on Sunday. When I was seated at 11:30 am, only three tables were occupied. One would think it would be busier. I also noticed that the Suzanne Tracht (Executive Chef and Owner) and Preech Narkthong (Chef de Cuisine) were sitting at an almost empty bar. In any event, my friends arrived... More

This place was an awesome find. Quiet, simple interior with great service and food. I absolutely loved the pot roast. The drinks are also very, very good. It's LA so nothing is cheap, but I found this reasonably priced for a nice dinner out.

Went here for a date night and while the restaurant was very nice in an understated way it seemed to cater more to business diners or those not wishing to be in a romantic mood. The overall look is minimalist 1950's. My husband said it was very "Mad Men". I thought it was nice, but a bit over lit and... More

We arrived about forty-five minutes before our reservation. They were very nice and seated us immediately,, we were very surprised since it was a Saturday night. The food was delicious, two of us had steak and two had fish. Also the wedge salad and 'Nasty Martini' were delicious.

A friend and I visited this restaurant for dinner a few weeks ago. It's been in town for years and I've always wanted to try it, but just hadn't got around to it. We both had steak, a few sides, and we split both an appetizer and dessert. We started with cocktails and moved to wine for the meal. Our... More
