Great food slow service

The food is truly great and It seems to have an interesting Asian influence. I had the Jidori Pork Chop and really enjoyed the sauce and the way it was braised. My friend had Halibut which was braised beautifully. The service is slow and the restaurant is loud but it is probably worth it... read more

Every visit to Los Angeles, has so far included a Dinner at JAR! Always good food, fantastic service and the Martinis not to miss! This year we could not stay for New Years eve, so missed Kevin! We will be back though!

Great place that is not pretentious but has great food and rather decent wine list. if you don't get a free-standing table and are seated along the wall request the one on either end. I liked the one on the far end in the corner. Go prior

Jar has been on my list for sometime, and I finally made it there last night. I frequently dine with a friend who has serious hearing problems. I'd been avoiding Jar for sometime because it's know for being very noisy. But, it was recently written up in the LA Times as one of the restaurants with a low noise level... More

A little over 10 years ago, a good friend took me to JAR, a quaint, quasi-hidden restaurant on Beverly Boulevard close to the Grove and just slightly out of reach from Fairfax Boulevard and Melrose Avenue culture. I did not know what to expect but I did feel like we were in a very special restaurant. Then, the food came,... More

It's no surprise that this establishment has received copious rave reviews for excellence and innovation. We were lucky to hear about a special Sunday menu offering fried chicken. I had to ask myself Really? A five star restaurant for fried chicken? Well I can only say I have never tasted fried chicken that had me begging for more. The chef... More

Such a nice restaurant. Went with my daughter and her boyfriend while visiting in LA. The place was really cool looking, reminded of some place that the rat pack would have hung out. The decor was kind of retro but very trendy. The food was very good my recommendation is the roast, it is exceptional. I would never order roast... More

This restaurant is ALWAYS reliable and ALWAYS great! 4 of us had dinner, some of us ordered the short ribs - amazing! The others one of the grilled fish - perfection! All of the side dishes were scrumptious, from the naughty mashed potatoes to all of the healthy, crisp fresh vegetables. And talk about dessert! One chocolate pudding with creme... More

We ate here on a recent girlfriends' getaway to LA; we had both read about it in a Michael Connelly novel and were intrigued. Dining early-ish on a Tuesday night, we had no trouble getting a table, and no problem with excess noise. The deviled eggs appetizer elevated the pot luck staple to Olympian heights. I thoroughly enjoyed my house... More

Drink a sip of water and poof, refilled. Finish a dish and poof, off it goes…the service was unobtrusive but unbelievable…but we went for the FOOD! Steaks were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and tender and the sauces were fantastic too. Best fries ever-crunch on the outside and tender on the inside. Creamed corn-wow, sweet, creamy and made with fresh corn…Mashed... More
