Great food slow service

The food is truly great and It seems to have an interesting Asian influence. I had the Jidori Pork Chop and really enjoyed the sauce and the way it was braised. My friend had Halibut which was braised beautifully. The service is slow and the restaurant is loud but it is probably worth it... read more

Such a nice restaurant. Went with my daughter and her boyfriend while visiting in LA. The place was really cool looking, reminded of some place that the rat pack would have hung out. The decor was kind of retro but very trendy. The food was very good my recommendation is the roast, it is exceptional. I would never order roast... More

This restaurant is ALWAYS reliable and ALWAYS great! 4 of us had dinner, some of us ordered the short ribs - amazing! The others one of the grilled fish - perfection! All of the side dishes were scrumptious, from the naughty mashed potatoes to all of the healthy, crisp fresh vegetables. And talk about dessert! One chocolate pudding with creme... More

We ate here on a recent girlfriends' getaway to LA; we had both read about it in a Michael Connelly novel and were intrigued. Dining early-ish on a Tuesday night, we had no trouble getting a table, and no problem with excess noise. The deviled eggs appetizer elevated the pot luck staple to Olympian heights. I thoroughly enjoyed my house... More

Drink a sip of water and poof, refilled. Finish a dish and poof, off it goes…the service was unobtrusive but unbelievable…but we went for the FOOD! Steaks were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and tender and the sauces were fantastic too. Best fries ever-crunch on the outside and tender on the inside. Creamed corn-wow, sweet, creamy and made with fresh corn…Mashed... More

My son and I decided to have a special dinner last week.We booked JAR, having been there before but years ago. We ordered filet mignon, oysters ,a salad, mashed potatos, brussel sprouts. The steaks were literally perfect, the sides-each one was more delicious and consistent than the next. The mashed potatoes were creamy ,buttery and amazing. Our server was savvy... More

I found Jar on a Friday evening in LA while staying at a hotel a few blocks away. I didn't want a chain restuarant and say some reviews on Open Table and thought it was worth a try. The only reservations available were 6:30p and 9:30p so I took the earlier one since I had an early morning meeting. When... More

How can a restaurant be out of a featured cocktail at 6:30 in the evening? Not an auspicious start!!! The food is fine -- nothing special. We were a party of 5 and had the gamut from the very limited menu. The beef was good, the chicken good, the endive salad really good. I had the special John Dory --... More

Jar is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. It has a retro-contemporary minimalist decor that matches it's menu very well. The updated steakhouse menu offers interesting options. I have never had less than perfect service. This is an upscale experience, perfect for a special occasion.
