A little gem

Hirozen is a little gem hidden in an unpretentious mini mall, a few blocks away from the Berverly Center. Gourmet is attached to the name of the restaurant for a reason : the chef offers an extensive menu of specials gourmet appetizers (It's one of the very rare place where I had the tiny crunchy... read more

Small, unpretentious brilliant Japanese food, with both outstanding sushi and cooked food, superior service, reasonable prices. A great find.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! That is all I have to say! I went with a friend for lunch. Easy, free parking, no wait, and pleasant staff. I ordered one of the Japanese "lunch boxes." Holy moly delish. There was sashimi, boiled veggies, tempura, grilled chicken, this seriously amazing potato salad, and a tuna roll. I was in Heaven. It was maybe... More

Similar to Itacho, this is an incredible Japanese Restaurant that serves Ikazaya style dishes. If you don't know what that is, look it up. This is a particular style of Japanese food that specializes in "home-style" small dishes that go with drinks. Some of the dishes are the finest versions available in the US. This is "Japanese Tapas" that originated... More

Our family traditionally gets take-out for dinner the night before Thanksgiving and we opted for sushi this time. Hirozen was a terrific choice! With an online menu it was easy to make our selections. Of the sushi rolls we ordered, the tempura shrimp roll and the California roll with real crabmeat (for a few dollars extra) were big hits. For... More

This wonderful little restaurant is tucked away in the corner of the most unlikely area to find a restaurant. It was full the night we walked past so decided to visit the following night for dinner. It was a little bit cramped but oh boy was it worth it. The service was good and the food was amazing. All of... More

If you want to feel like a local Angelino eat here. They have great sushi and a sweet atmosphere. It is a small place but they have delicious sushi. It is a good place to go with a small group of people or for date night. They have a small selection of wine and beer and of course Sake too.... More

The sushi is great, fresh, tasty, traditional. The portions are a little small but not too small though it definitely adds up and gets prices if you are hungry. The restaurant lacks ambiance and is in the corner of a strip mall but hey, most of the best sushi spots in LA are. Def worth a visit to a traditional... More

Service is excellent, the sushi is top notch and prepared with a creative flair, the sushi chef is a master, and the atmosphere is comfortable. The dishes are a tad bit more expensive than some, but worth every penny. I've eaten sushi many times, and ib many different cities over the past thirty or so years. BY FAR, Hirozen in... More

Like so many Japanese places in LA, this one is tucked into a small strip mall, this one on Beverly Boulevard. We sat at the sushi bar and let the chef prepare a sashimi plate that was just fantastic. The fish was so fresh, and so delicious. Even things I don't normally like much, like mackerel, were amazing. Don't miss... More
