Worth the ride out to the canyon

Wonderful California food experience, nestled in the huge trees on the side of the Topanga canyon. About 30 minutes north from the Santa Monica pier. Eat under the stars and enjoy an interesting menu. I had the flat iron steak and my wife had the duck. For desert we shared the banana bread... read more

We went there on a recommendation from a friend. Can't say much about the view because we arrived at night. The setting was the best thing about this place, that's about all the good I can say. Now, I'm all about the California experience as we are from Florida, unfortunately there is no excuse for slow service across the board.... More

Charming location in Topanga Canyon. Great, friendly service and a trendy menu with novel twists on traditional offerings. Reserve a table under one of the outdoor gazebos.

I first discovered The Inn of the Seventh Ray when I attended a wedding. It is a beautiful outdoor Calif. setting for a wedding & reception. Later, I was told about their weekend brunch. Something for everyone - traditional fare plus lots of vegetarian & organic options. ALL of it it so good! Delicious! And the creekside setting is wonderful!... More

The most beautiful patio dining - creekside with warm sunset light banding across the creaked. I think I ordered the wrong entree - salmon with various mushrooms was earthy, bland, and salty - really an interesting, careful, creative concept and lovely presentation. Just not my favorite flavor group. I loved everything else - salad, risotto, dessert, wine choice. Lavender vanilla... More

I've been to this restaurant many times and was one of my favorite for special occasions. Especially as they cater to gluten free needs. The ambiance is amazing. Sitting outside feels like on vacation on a different planet. This is were it ends. The service is extremely slow. The menu is very limited in choices. I had the soup of... More

A destination restaurant that is in an idyllic setting that certainly separates one from the hustle and bustle of LA. It has a magical feeling, that is, unfortunately plagued by slow service and inconsistent food. Certainly, you should get relaxed and spend as much time in the beautiful setting should you decide to go, but be prepared to linger while... More

NICE! We had lunch here while visiting my daughter in L.A. It is a very cool place, outside dining, located in Topanga Canyon. We had our own intimate area surrounded by nature, water & trees. We had delicious organic farm to table fare. I had the mussels and the Seventh Ray salad. Others ordered the Salmon, the Panini and the... More

While driving through Topanga Canyon I discovered The Inn of the Seventh Ray in late 1970. Since then the restaurant has become quite upscale and pricey. However the experience and taste of the Chef Selection of Artesian Cheese, Peruvian Style Saltado, Malple Leaf Farms Duck Breast, and Jidori Chicken with Mushroom Polenta which we made it well worth the price
