You know that you are in a somewhat unique Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, when many of the patrons are speaking Italian with the owner, who is also a cosumate host, although his English is on the weak side and leaves most of the pleasentries to his sons, one of whom is always in attendance.
The restaurant has a standing...

Madeo is the only Italian restaurant in LA that has sustained it's quality of food and service over the years. As a regular, I can say that over the last 5 years it has never let me down. They are always packed every night of the week and quite often there is a little wait, even with a reservation. However,...

Been here twice, both occasions on a weekday and it's packed.

I love Madeo for the pasta with Bottarga. It really is unique. But this family run restaurant is great if you want to eat european tasting food in LA. The food is really delicious, the environment cosy and perfect for business lunches or romantic dinners. You really feel like a star.
Food was yummy. Great spot to people watch.
Didn't appreciate the fact that we'd asked for a table in the main dining room and were seated in the front room but otherwise a very good experience.
We spent $260 including tip for a 3 course dinner for two (they had a lovely Penfolds for $70).
Owner was doing the rounds...

Had dinner at Madeo a few evenings ago and had a great meal. We didn't find the service to be at the level expected for the prices. However, we did have an enjoyable evening with and would recommend to others if you've never been. For us, it's one of those places that you like but have no reason to go...
