Longing For Yesterday

How I used to love this place! The food was divine. It was the hot Italian spot in the '80's and '90's. Now the spot is cool and the food is just short of good. While the room is still cozy, I didn't feel warm. Nothing was bad, just not special. Certainly over--priced. The broccoli soup was... read more

With some great travelling companions we hit on this restaurant through them on a Wednesday evening. The place doesn't look great from the outside, inside we loved the old photos of Venice at the start of the 20th century. We found the service and the food were terrific. The owners hand was at the tiller and it shows: knowledge, skill... More

Getting a diner booking at Locanda Veneta is a "plan in advance" event and yet in the past 3 weeks I have been there twice for lunch and it has been relatively empty. I asked why? Answer: because under past ownership the restaurant has been closed for lunch 3 different times for varying periods. Oh boy, what a loss! The... More

When the restaurant first opened in the late 1980's, the food was spectacular and the prices were competitive with top Italian restaurants in the greater Los Angeles area. I ate there many times and had fond memories. Fade out. Fade in: the year is 2014. The food is mediocre and the prices are obscene. My rack of lamb was very... More

I may be just a Ozzie from Sydney, but I'm an Italophile, and I recognise a quality meal when I get one. Staying just a few blocks away at the Sofitel, my wife and I caet to Loscanda Veneta to be treated to a fabulous meal of traditional, fine northern italian fare. Matre d' Massimo, a native Florentine, ran a... More

I've eaten at this restaurant several times in the last few months. The servers recognize us and welcome us back every time. The heirloom tomato soup is amazing! None of the pasta entrees have disappointed or been less than delicious, and the portions are generous. The atmosphere is dim and quiet (but casual), perfect for dates and couples.

For a simple Italian meal that will take you back to any trip you have done to Italy, Locanda Veneta delivers! A great pasta selection and other non-pasta entrees will have you wanting to order everything on the menu just to taste! The lobster stuffed squid ink ravioli came with a creamy bisque sauce that was not too rich and... More

Small place, no bar, really good service. Not a large menu but inventive without being esoteric. Really good house wine. Rarely have I had a house wine that was memorable; they are usually just drinkable. This is my second time and the food is always good. I had the seafood pasta special and they removed all the ick from the... More

My husband and I bought a online special for this restaurant and it did not have great appeal from outside . Once you go inside the vibe is like being in a quaint true Italian restaurant from Italy. We had a raw artichoke salad with a great light vinaigrette , followed by Branzino fish with fresh roasted veggies and Frute... More

I was driving my sister and my aunt from restaurant to restaurant, looking for one with convenient parking and no line for service. Finally, I parked next door to Locanda Veneta and announced that we were eating there. What a fortunate find! Everything at this restaurant is freshly made, and the bread is baked on the premises. For an unbelievable... More
