I must admit I have dined at Apple Pan many times so far; however I think I end up eating there more for the atmosphere that is so wonderfully 50's than for the food: the customers all sitting around the counter, the old cash registers, the waiters in their uniforms... I feel like I am in an episode of "Happy... More

As far as in concerned, Apple Pan does the best burger in LA. They still serve you your burgers in simple wax paper. Only two options. I get a hickory burger. Best.

I saw this on TV from a show with Emeril Lagasse on it. He highly recommend it. Apple Pan is a retro burger joint, small, tasty burgers, yummy apple pies but after all that I paid over $21 including tips. For a burger, coke and a apple pie ala mode I think it was too pricey. Yes, it has a... More

Wow. Flew into LA and was told I HAD to go by the Apple Pan. A trip back in time. Waited about 10 minutes just standing in the entry, but it was a fun experience and you sort of bond with your fellow standers. The counter is a U shape with stools and you watch the guys do their thing... More

We stopped off here on our way back to LA from Laguna Beach on a Saturday lunchtime. It is a few minted away from the 405 / 10 junction with a small parking lot. We read about its excellent burgers on goop (Gwyneth Paltrow's blog). It's a very simple c-shaped diner style bar with the kitchen at its center, within... More

If you're lucky enough to get a seat at the counter, chances are, you'll have one of the best burgers (or one of the few sandwiches they offer) you ever had. It's a no frills place that just serves good, old fashioned food. And don't forget to have a piece of pie!

Been going to the Apple Pan since 1952. The hickory burger is the best burger I've ever had and the steak burger is the second best. The fries are very good. The apple pie is ok. But the gems are the two burgers. Others have opened restaurants trying to duplicate the taste and failed. Don't go between 11:30am and 1:30pm.... More

One of the best burgers I ever had and also one of the greatest apple pies! The only thing is they don't accept cards. Ok, it's vintage but unnecessary. I love classic/traditional places and this is certainly one of those. Be aware of places to seat. Only bar stools, I've been there with wife and two kids and was not... More

You grab a bar stool around a horseshoe shaped counter and can see your food being prepared. I tried the hickory burger - try it but ask for less sauce - and fries, very enjoyable. The service is attentive and personable. They even pour the ketchup for you on a separate plate. Cokes come from a can and are poured... More

Good food and quality! It is like going back in time to the Richie Cunningham days to a horse shoe bar and paper hats. It is small and busy so expect to wait but it is well worth it. A true Los Angeles instituion.
