Was invite by friends for dinner and is good. I dont eat red meat and for that reason can't comment about the giant meatballs. The food is very basic. Nothing sorprise me,except for the gelato that remembers me my favorite gelato in Milan. Important note: NO alcohol on place

Most people drive by and think desserts - pasta is amazing and the meatballs - some of the best anywhere - and then dessert. It is casual and fun .

We came to Al Gelato based on a recommendation from a friend. I'm not exactly sure where it's located in L.A because I just put the address into the GPS and it took us to it. It's a nice neighborhood lined with several small shops. Since we already had lunch we just ordered gelato. Seating is inside or out. We... More

Al Gelato was a favorite of ours when we lived in Los Angeles. On a warm night, we often strolled the mile or so from our house just to enjoy a cool desert. The "kids" have taken over the business and still offer the lovely, friendly service we always experienced. The gelato was as tasty as we remember.

The Gelato and Apple Pie are excellent. Food is plentiful, sauce is a little sweeter than most Italian restaurants but good. Everyone working there is friendly. Coffees and latte are very good. There are a few tables outside that are great to relax in the evening. They are pretty busy for a reason. I think they now have started a... More

Thirty years says a lot about a place. The gelato is a creamy delight and with a great selection of flavors. I recommend sitting in and being served by the friendly staff. I felt like I was in Rome. The addition of the wafer the cute dishes and ambiance is so much nicer then those awful paper cups and plastic... More

I would go there more often if they had Whole Wheat Pasta or Pizza Crust, but the food is so outstanding, that I go there and choose to get off of my heart healthy diet due to the fabulous food, bread and soups. I leave the Gelato, but you cannot find any better tasting Gelato in the US.

Fairly limited menu. Mostly pasta. Portions are large. The sauce was just average and that's really what the pasta is about. Would not rush back.

We live in New England and frequently eat in the very Italian North End of Boston and we really enjoyed Al Gelato on a recent trip to Los Angeles. It was recommended to us by family who have relocated to the LA area. First off, the service was great. We were the only people eating there at the time but... More
