Fun, loud and friendly

Without doubt, the food and drink are not at the highest level. No problem, we had a great time. The Maitre D was exceedingly pleasant even though our party of five was new to this legendary hangout. We bellyed up to the crowded bar where the bartender of 47 years graciously served us. Drinks... read more

The wait staff are irritated they must 'wait' on your table, disappear after the bland and boring food arrives so I think they are embarrassed of the poor quality too. There is no garlic flavor at all in this so called Italian Restaurant. The food was a major disappointment and having to endure loud obnoxious barkeeps too, just put this... More

We had time to kill before doors opened next door at the Troubadour, so we decide to have a bite here. You would swear you're walking into the past--checkered tablecloths tuxedoed waiters, tons of dark wood. The service is excellent and the menu was varied. The caprese salad was easily big enough for a main course. Definitely worth a visit!

Looooove this place. Old school, Hollywood Italian. I recommend grabbing a martini, sitting at the bar and enjoying the company of whomever happens to wander in. Home of the best/endearing/crustiest bartender.

As the review is titled, this cuisine will never go out of (my) favor. I've been here several times over the years, and have never been disappointed. Great classic southern italian food, well prepared and properly served. The ambiance is just right.

Our first night in LA we had reservations as we were craving good Italian food and heard this was a good place for a celeb sighting. Dan Tana's did not fail! Upon arrival, the maître d was showed us a small table that was available immediately but said if we waited a few minutes he could get us a better... More

If only negative stars were available for Dan Tana's. I have been to Dan Tana's twice, the first time was over 7 years ago and I had an amazing experience. The second time was on a recent Sunday night with my family. Our waiter was Arturo, a charming person at first. However, once we had simple questions about the menu... More

I always go to Da Tanas when I visit West Hollywood. Great food with old time charm. Very frequently you will see movie stars. It's very popular so sometimes it's necessary to wait at the bar for your table. So plan a little extra time and enjoy nostalgic LA at its best.

I didn't even get to taste the food. The waiter went out of his way to make a disrespectful comment to me saying, “I don’t see how you’re sitting here with these white people.” My coworkers an I very offended by his comment so we left.

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
