Old Style Italian American Eatery

I've been coming to Tana's for years and it never disappoints. You come here for the hearty old fashioned Italian-American food, and to be insulted by the Maitre 'd, and to be crammed into small tables too small for your party, and to occasionally spot a past-their-prime celebrity. It can be... read more

My friend took me here for the steak, even though technically an Italian restaurant. Claimed to be the best he ever had. Went on a Friday night at 9 p.m. Glad we had reservations because they were jammed packed. Waited about 20 minutes for our table. Had the NY Steak. Comes with a side of pasta. Pricey but very good.... More

Dan Tana's has been around for years. It is a well known eatery for locals and most of LA residents. The food is old style Italian and great. The servings are huge so don't try doing 3 or 4 courses. Everything is great, but the Ziti is perfection. The place is open late which is great. I think service ends... More

Oh where do I start .... This place is a cliche and sadly they get away with rude service, over reaching arrogance and a screw you attitude that is lapped up for some unknown reason except the regulars are in that time warp where a little man in a bow tie also known as the Maitre D'i can be as... I stopped in one Monday night. I was alone so I sat at the bar. It was only about 6:30pm but it was quite full. The bartender was very friendly (though I've heard they are rude to you as part of the "schtick" of eating there - but that wasn't my experience) and placed a set-up and glass of water... More

Go here, you will have fun. This small, crowded spot seems like it's been around for forever. Packed to the gills presumably from the minute it opens until its closed, this place has wonderful Italian food, a small bar, and a seasoned well organized staff. The Maitre'D is great there and has a salty, funny air about him. Supposedly, there... More

Crowed, loud, and chaotic. Despite a booking we waited 30 mins for a table and it would have been longer if we hadn't kept reminding the maitre d. When eventually seated the food was pretty good but not great. Clearly a fine neighborhood place that's popular with locals and regulars but come for the scene not the food and you... More

The food is old-school New York Italian. The clientele appears to be a mix of California entertainment types - from the famous to the not so famous - and tourists. The service at our table was great - no issues at all. The food was very good for what it is. Don't expect haute-cuisine, Cal-Italian or Olive Garden - this... More

Dan Tana's food remains my overall favorite in LA but it's a very tight spot. As much as i love it I'm never quite comfortable. That said, the chicken tana is a ten, the Caesar salad a twenty, and the steak almost rivals the Palm.

Firstly, the Italy from which this restaurant draws culinary inspiration isn't so much the European country as much as the segment at Disneyland's 'It's a Small World'. From the mini chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling to the red and white checked table cloths to the menu that must have been downloaded from a central repository of ethnic restaurant cliches,... Staying in West Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
