With friends the other night for a first (and certainly not last) visit to this unique establishment. Larger plates than you often see in tapas styled restaurants which make them perfect for sharing. We found that 2 plates per person was more than adequate. Multiple servers is the way they have designed the experience which is delightful as you always... More

I'm not a fan of talpa-style plates: they are usually a rip off - small plates for big bucks. I also don't like plates coming out separately with long waits to get all that you ordered. It forces you to eat what has come to the table before it gets cold while you await the other items. While I found... More

I heard such great things about this restaurant so my expectations were very high and they were not met. The service was awful. We had 4 different servers so no consistency. I told the server we ordered our food from that I hated cilantro. The lamb and couscous was delivered to the table covered in cilantro. When we sent it... More

$30 for sandwich, veggies and desert... Hmmmm everything was delicious . I could have just made a meal of the veggies but at $10-$15 a dish, that's really expensive. By the way, I just drink water.

Our experience got off to a bad start: we arrived a little early for our reservation. The hostess told us the wait would be about 20 minutes. There were two empty tables right behind her. Thirty minutes later she gave us one of those tables! Why the worthless wait? The restaurants small plates were small. While the quality if the... More

This place is very popular so I know I'm not in the majority. The sandwiches, which they are known for are a little heavy for me for lunch. Some of their sides are tasty and unusual - reserve a table, even for lunch - they do get busy.

Baco Mercat is a fun and edgy food adventure. All the dishes were a mixture of non traditional yet delicious flavors.. We were a group of eight, so opted for the family style set menu. at $60 per person. The food kept coming and we we literally stuffed by the end. We were served 3 exciting salads, a unique tuna... Beneath the skyscrapers in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, Baco Mercat offers cozy casual indoor tables, a top shelf bar and some street-side patio seating, reservations recommended (available through their website). One of my favorite places for unique and delicious seasonal pairings, with a fantastic drink menu that includes some very tasty sweet and sour non-alcoholic sodas, my favorite... More

Had dinner here a couple of weeks ago and it was probably the highlight of our long L.A. weekend. A great spot in old downtown and our servers couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and fun. And the food... wow! The small plates and share format work great, giving more opportunities to sample the variety of amazing flavors. We were... More
