Amazing

Best vegetarian and fish dinners I have ever had. Drinks were mediocre. Food was simply amazing. If you don't eat meT this is a trendy happening and tasty option.... If you love seafood this is also great. Not typical so be prepared,:)

Made reservations for 12:30 pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately by friendly staff. The food was delicious, combining Tex-Mex, Mediterranean, etc. in a wonderful creative way with good depth of flavor. Similar to tapas but larger portions. I made a lunch of a melon-Persian cucumber salad and a hamachi (ahi) chili, avacado, hash brown, cre'me fraische dish. Others... More

The Baco Mercat is in downtown LA that has a lot of activity at night, although the numerous private security guards are a welcome precaution. The restaurant is very popular. It was full on Monday night, with a 30 minute wait. However, the wait was well worth it. It has a creative selection of tapas (or small dishes), including a... More

Stopped by on a Monday afternoon around 5:40 for dinner since we're in the area. Totally just caught it opening up (at 5:30) so there isn't a line and the restaurant was wide open. I would say it's trying to be a tapas restaurant but with much bigger plates than you would get in Barcelona. We got Caesar brussel sprouts... More

We came on a Sunday at 4:50pm there was already a line. Since they open at 5:00 I figured we would be ok getting in without a reservation. We were the second party in line and I was pretty shocked when the hostess sat us at a table next to the door in the back of the restaurant. We were... More

It was my first time at the LA ArtWalk and I arrived early, so my cousin & I decided to check our this funny little place that looked like it had an interesting menu. It was 5:30, and fairly empty, but we decided to give it a try because we were intrigued; was it Spanish cuisine or what? There was... More

Everything here was so delicious and full of flavor. I visited back in May with some friends and still remember the fresh full punch of flavor of the ceviche two months later.

Grabbed a work dinner here based on a recommendation. Managed to get here early enough that we didn't need a reservation. Ordered the lamb riblet, grilled octopus, daurade and pear salad. The food was all good and the beers on tap were great. What surprised me was how fast the food came out. Our server was attentive without being pushy.

I love downtown LA...it's edgy so there's lots of new creative restaurants opening up. This is tapas style and fantastic. Only one I'd pass on is risotto fritters, otherwise all was yummy, esp the lamb! Great casual, old Euro cafe feel.

Although some rave about the vegetarian offerings -- and they are indeed great -- I can vouch for the non-vegetarian items as well. Two of us went to Baco on a Wednesday evening after work and could only be seated at the bar, but that was fine. For table service, you should make a reservation, even mid-week. The craft cocktails... More

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
