French Bistro in the Palisades

On a first visit for lunch with a companion sitting outside on a beautiful summer beach day I discovered great food, but very flawed service. Historically Swarthmore holds a Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings. The great and the good, the must be seen and those who are impressed by Celebrity sightings are here. There are pony rides, Doggy Adoption centres, ethnic food stands, gorgeous orchid stands, organic fruits and vegetables and bunches of gorgeous flowers as well as exciting herbs ready to be planted. Really... More

The best croissants in LA, I've tried plenty to know... Get there early if you want all the flavor options. Plain is perfection which made me happy but I was surprised how good their chocolate croissant was, I never liked them before then. I have yet to try their almond because they're only offered on Sunday. The rest of the... More

My second visit, both for dinner. Parking is on the street, usually available. Both outdoor and indoor tables, white tablecloths. The service starts with a complimentary pate with toasts, and the incredibly good olive bread. I skipped an appetizer, just had the green salad (fresh, green, good) and the bass, which was a bit dry. Desserts are good and have... More

This is my second visit to Maison Giraud, both times were special . My wife and I went for a romantic Valentine Day meal and it was outstanding. Each course was delicious, visually appealing and not overpowering. It is possible to have French cuisine without feeling it is over the top. My selections complimented each other. They built on the... More

The croissants are, well, I'm drooling just thinking about them, trying to describe. Hands down, the best croissants outside of France. So delicate, so melt in your mouth buttery goodness. And the taste is exactly what I remember from my visit to Paris. The chocolate croissant should be illegal. Or, they should put a restraining order on me from ordering... More

We've been for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our favorite is Sunday breakfast while watching the people coming and going from the Farmers Market. Then we go shop the Market. Oh yeah - and the food is great too!

Dinner tonite was very good. We had a pre paid deal with amuse bouche, appetizers, mains and chocolate soufflé'. Atmosphere, service and food were all very good. Wine was very reasonable. Everything was prepared well. The flavors were all fine. We are likely to return again. While not a destination establishment, it is a worthwhile component of the Pacific Palisades dining scene.

Only stopped for brunch one day, and had the most amazing blueberry Danish that we re-routed our last day in LA to go by again for a late breakfast. With the local farmer's market just outside on the street, sitting outside on a sunny day was a perfect Sunday start. Lots of fresh ingredients and bread and pasteries to die... More

This is a great neighborhood restaurant, but I wouldn't travel a long distance. It served our purpose because it is midway for meeting friends from northern Malibu. The menu is frankly a little limited, but everything was fresh and well prepared. The wine list is above average in variety and reasonably priced. The ambience...well...is comfortable and casual. Don't come here... More
