Good (but hang on to your wallet)

Quaint but small, it’s a nice change of place from your typical sushi bar. Beer, wine and sake only. My dinner consisted of the cold spinach plate, baked Japanese pumpkin (Kobocha) with honey, Tiger Prawns with garlic and a nice, cold bottle of Kikusui Junmai Ginjo sake. Everything was delicious... read more

This restaurant does not have very many food choices for vegetarians. The restaurant was small, but very clean. Overall, there was not many items on the menu.

Eggplant is a very good Japanese restaurant. I love their Cooked Honey Roll, Pumpkin LA, and Pumpkin Crispy Rice. Service might be slow, but it is still worth it. I would definitely come here again!

We've eaten at many Japanese restaurants both here in the US and also in Japan. We were really impressed with the quality and taste of the dishes at Eggplant. The tempura was fried light and crispy and served while still very hot. The salads were very fresh and dressings were not overwhelming. The sushi was also very tasty and good... More

As you drive down Ventura Blvd in Studio City, you will pass MANY Japanese/sushi restaurants. Give Eggplant a try-you will not be disappointed. The food is delightfully good and the ambiance is simple and cozy. Try the plum sake!

First of all, we love this place. Do NOT be put off by any negative reviews. The people that are in a terrible hurry should just go to In-N-Out, not Eggplant. They are small, but they really do have personal service. They make everything to order, and it is not sitting on a pre cooked plate in the back. They... More

Among lots of restaurants along Ventura Blvd, Eggplant stands out not because it is the fanciest, but because it is not. Just simple, well-cooked, reasonably-priced Japanese food with friendly, attentive but not obtrusive service. On a recent business trip to LA, I ended with an evening with friends we decided to do Japanese. None of us are Japanese, but three... More
