Nice Italian meal in downtown LA

Went for dinner with a friend. Very good service. Server was very friendly actor from Kentucky. Food was delicious and dessert was great too (had lava cake and some kind of coffee ice cream). Would go back again.

Been eating at this place for years and was always there one of our favorites. Went yesterday and the menu was completely redone! Was told the chef retired and took his recipes with him. They said they were going to a more natural menu, ha, very disappointed in menu choices and was very over priced for what you got! Used... More

This place was interesting in a "not sure what I thought way". Went for drinks mid-week after work with plans to stay for dinner (we were all from out-of-town). The main floor at street level was empty. They sent us downstairs to the bar area which had a few people there. Good happy hour specials -- half price on wine... More

All of the reviews made me think it was a great place to eat, but I couldn't have gotten more disappointed! The pizza was awful, the salad was small, and everything was most definitely not worth what they asked for it. Never going back, terrible.

Cucina Rustica is a lovely restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. The menu is varied and the food is authentic Italian fare. Service and atmosphere are both excellent. On weekend nights there is a a very good jazz band to accompany dinner.

Spaghetti not al dente, I rest my case. Sent it back and made the same way. Too much spices on the bolognese more like Indian food than Italian. Onion soup neither looked like one or tasted like one. When the waiter took the bolognese to bring the new one she took my spoon with it so my soup got cold.... More

This place was terrible!!!! We made reservations for NYE weeks in advance. Showed up at 8:30 on NYE to be told by an extremely rude man that despite the fact that they had our reservations, that they could not accommodate us because THEY did not call US back to confirm -- not that we had some obligation to call them... Ate here solely on the advice of others on TripAdvisor, and found the restaurant to be pretty bad, truth be told. The restaurant was totally empty (bad sign) and the food was about what you might expect from a second-tier chain italian restaurant. The calamari was supposed to be "lightly fried" but was deep fried. The pasta was not el... More

The meatballs my husband ordered reminded him of his Italian mother's homemade meatballs. Need I say more?

It was a great experience going to this Italian restaurant in downtown LA. There are so many options in downtown, that is not easy to choose. I was very pleased with this choice. The place is cozy and the dishes were really of high quality. I chose pasta and so other members of my family. I can recommend that. The... More

Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
