Relaxed evening meal

Focaccia bread to start to share was delicious! I had a freshly made pasta bolognese which was excellent and my partner had the magherita pizza which was fresh and tasty! The atmosphere was lively (music was great!) but not so loud you couldn't talk. Staff were very attentive and entertaining!

The service was great, and the focaccia bread was excellent, but it was all downhill from there. My margherita pizza was awful - it had a cracker-like crust and a bad sauce; my friend's pasta, although freshly made according to our waitress, was tough, and the sauce was awful! Very expensive for how bad the main dishes were, too. I... More

In town for Special Olympics World Games. Our party of 9 had 7 pm reservations and there were fewer than 6 others in the restaurant at this time. Service was ok most of the time and very slow at others. They say they are a farm to market restaurant, make their own pasta in-house and also the bread, butter and... More

Been eating at this place for years and was always there one of our favorites. Went yesterday and the menu was completely redone! Was told the chef retired and took his recipes with him. They said they were going to a more natural menu, ha, very disappointed in menu choices and was very over priced for what you got! Used... More

This place was interesting in a "not sure what I thought way". Went for drinks mid-week after work with plans to stay for dinner (we were all from out-of-town). The main floor at street level was empty. They sent us downstairs to the bar area which had a few people there. Good happy hour specials -- half price on wine... More

All of the reviews made me think it was a great place to eat, but I couldn't have gotten more disappointed! The pizza was awful, the salad was small, and everything was most definitely not worth what they asked for it. Never going back, terrible.

Cucina Rustica is a lovely restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. The menu is varied and the food is authentic Italian fare. Service and atmosphere are both excellent. On weekend nights there is a a very good jazz band to accompany dinner.

Went for dinner with a friend. Very good service. Server was very friendly actor from Kentucky. Food was delicious and dessert was great too (had lava cake and some kind of coffee ice cream). Would go back again.

Spaghetti not al dente, I rest my case. Sent it back and made the same way. Too much spices on the bolognese more like Indian food than Italian. Onion soup neither looked like one or tasted like one. When the waiter took the bolognese to bring the new one she took my spoon with it so my soup got cold.... More

This place was terrible!!!! We made reservations for NYE weeks in advance. Showed up at 8:30 on NYE to be told by an extremely rude man that despite the fact that they had our reservations, that they could not accommodate us because THEY did not call US back to confirm -- not that we had some obligation to call them... Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
