Excellent Italian fare

Cucina Rustica is a lovely restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. The menu is varied and the food is authentic Italian fare. Service and atmosphere are both excellent. On weekend nights there is a a very good jazz band to accompany dinner.

Went for dinner with a friend. Very good service. Server was very friendly actor from Kentucky. Food was delicious and dessert was great too (had lava cake and some kind of coffee ice cream). Would go back again.

Spaghetti not al dente, I rest my case. Sent it back and made the same way. Too much spices on the bolognese more like Indian food than Italian. Onion soup neither looked like one or tasted like one. When the waiter took the bolognese to bring the new one she took my spoon with it so my soup got cold.... More

This place was terrible!!!! We made reservations for NYE weeks in advance. Showed up at 8:30 on NYE to be told by an extremely rude man that despite the fact that they had our reservations, that they could not accommodate us because THEY did not call US back to confirm -- not that we had some obligation to call them... Ate here solely on the advice of others on TripAdvisor, and found the restaurant to be pretty bad, truth be told. The restaurant was totally empty (bad sign) and the food was about what you might expect from a second-tier chain italian restaurant. The calamari was supposed to be "lightly fried" but was deep fried. The pasta was not el... More

The meatballs my husband ordered reminded him of his Italian mother's homemade meatballs. Need I say more?

It was a great experience going to this Italian restaurant in downtown LA. There are so many options in downtown, that is not easy to choose. I was very pleased with this choice. The place is cozy and the dishes were really of high quality. I chose pasta and so other members of my family. I can recommend that. The... More

In town for a conference and was staying at the Westin so my team and I decided to have dinner here since it was within walking distance. They had live music and the place was packed. Our server was very knowledgable and was able to offer recommendations based on our party of 5's personal preferences. I had the shrimp fettuccine... More

A great place next to Engine Co No 28. Valet parking, wonderful menu, great wine choice and lovely portion sizes. Quiet and informal but classy inside. Great service and friendly staff. This is in an up and coming area of downtown LA - much like Canary Wharf in London - well worth a drive if not in the area and... More

I have eaten here several times over the years as I have to go to Downtown LA on business a couple of times a year. Pretty good Italian particularly if you don't want to leave downtown LA. I have tried Dragos and while I love Tanino Dragos in Westwood, their downtown location is not worth the trip. We had lasagna,gnocchi... More

Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
