Description: In a world where landmarks are few and far between there is Gladstones...
In a world where landmarks are few and far between there is Gladstones. Situated where Sunset Boulevard meets the Pacific Coast Highway, it's become a place of Southern California legend. Gladstones offers a menu plucked from the very ocean it overlooks, serving modern renditions of classic dishes. In its typically relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, there's something to satisfy every palate. Whether you're at the raw bar, the lounge, the dining rooms or the grand patio over-looking the surf, it's commonly agreed there's no better place, either up the coast or down, to enjoy fresh seafood, a Mai Tai or a sunset. Over the last 40 years Gladstones has become a South California landmark. One visit and you'll see why.

Good food but slow service

Reasonable selection of seafood but the night we visited the service happened to be quite slow and the bread that they served up was more like raw dough. Haven't been here in years. Still a lot of fun. Service was great. Our server Matt was attentive and prompt. Good food and plenty of it! For dessert, try the strawberry shortcake. A bit shy of heavenly.

So disappointed in the Fish and Chips. It was fried like a pancake - terrible ! Blackend Brocolli was burnt, Mai Tai had no rum in it. Crab Cake Sandwich ordered by a friend was good, though. The view and location of our table was amazing and was the best part of the visit. Can't ruin the ocean view unless... More

Gave this place another try this week for a birthday lunch. Once again it disappointed. Little selection of very over-priced food. No local fresh fish at all. Dirty floor, dirty bathrooms. Tried the grilled fish tacos, they came served in greasy tortillas and with a microscopic piece of fish they use for fish and chips. Avoid this over-priced dirty restaurant.

Arrived at 6:30, sat right at water's edge, relaxing Thursday evening with spectacular service and wonderful meal. The fish chowder was OUTSTANDING....accompanied by fresh-baked bread loaves. Our grandson celebrated his 7th birthday with his leftovers wrapped like a penguin in foil. Quite a show, table-side. Grandson was given a huge piece of chocolate cake, enough to share with 4 adults.... More

Still wondering why it's still open... Great view. Lousy service. Below average food. Valets' seem to move the cars fairly quickly. Tourists and people from inland who don't know any better. I meet friends/here about once a year cause it's so close. Always a disappointment and regret it

Used to come here all the time due to the great food and the location on the beach and the fun atmosphere. This last time, very disappointed. Service was not good at all, food was average, young girls at hostess area did not fulling explain sitting outside vs inside and the difference in the menus. Sunday brunch was not great.... More

Right where Sunset Blvd. meets the surf with great parking. Nice varied menu but seafood should be the choice. Wait staff can be inconsistent and it does get crowded & is a bit noisy - but food & location compensate.

The view is unsurpassed, right on the beach. This is a classic with good food and amazing ambience at the foot of Sunset Boulevard. Missing this is missing SoCal at its best.

Can't beat the right-on-the-ocean view, celeb sightings and ability to linger not only in the restaurant but on the spit of semi -private sand just in front of the spot. But of course, it comes with a price. Pretty darn good food ( friends liked the fish n chips, corned beef hash, Belgian waffles and Mimosas) . I had the... More
