What a unique menu and concept. Most items are served with sharing in mind. Just like a Chinese restaurant, but with American food. The entrees were all delicious. The server was great. Very helpful in making suggestions on ordering . Too bad its closing soon, would love to go back

My husband and I walked into this amazing little hideaway two years ago on our honeymoon, thanks to a suggestion from the New York Times' 36 Hours Book. I'm not sure what our expectations were, but they were blown AWAY by the end of it. I assume the menu has surely adjusted by now, but we shared the broccoli, the... More

Low lit environment with an open kitchen in an aged building, offering unique food and a very good happy hour. I have frequented this restaurant for years, tucked into the bowels of the Alexandria Hotel building in the heart of downtown LA, and appreciate the comfortable atmosphere, savory selections and refreshing drinks laying in contrast to the busy inner city... I am always a little skeptical about going to celebrity restaurants as they normally do not meet up to my expectations. Gorbals was the exception. This place delivers on food, service and price. I was expecting an over priced, pretentious typical LA joint but got a dining experience I won't soon forget. It was a slow Tuesday night so we... More

Looking over the reviews I would suggest that much has changed since 2013 and would encourage wary visitors to give it a try. Its nit crowded now, and has made some changes to where you enter, bathroom access and menu/service. Get there while you can now, won't be like this for long!! The menu is organized into small/medium/large plates to... More

Candice is the best bartender. She took great care if us and we had awesome matzo balls wrapped in bacon. My drink was amazing all night long.

We ate at Gorbals for Valentines Day. It's in the back of the lobby if an old deco building. Hard to find but worth it. We had to sit at the bar but that was fun. Delicious mixed drinks and wine. We had the 5 course tasting menu, one vegetarian and the other with meet. Every dish was beautiful and... More

We highly recommend Gorbals for an exquisite and unique culinary experience. We tried the bacon wrapped matzoh balls, latkes with smoked applesauce, soy-chili broccoli and a few other shared plate entrees and all were more than delicious - it was a delectable experience to taste these flavors and foods combined in such unique ways. The entrance to the building is... More

I am very surprised by numerous good reviews. What was the reason for these reviewers to come in this restaurant? Did they want to hang out or to eat? Did they really eat here? Do they have taste buds? I found this restaurant as a total failure. Unfortunately, not all celebrity chefs are capable to deliver and to bring forward... More
