Looks good, but the food is NOT good.

My waiter should move to France where his surly attitude might work better. The food was greasy and did not seem fresh. Too bad. This setting and location deserve better.

The restaurant is only open on the weekends and is never good when it is open. Sad. It had a promising beginning, but it has devolved into a lousy bar.

My husband and adult sons took me to First and Hope for my birthday before the theater. We had a raucous good time. That had everything to do with the company and absolutely nothing to do with the dining experience. Only steps away for the Music Center, the restaurant was deserted. We started with drinks. I had one of the... More

The only reason to visit this restaurant is that you do not have time to go elsewhere before your concert. The service is adequate. The food is barely edible, the meatballs in the quinoa spaghetti was cold just out of refrigerator. The tomato soup was extremely salty and the beet salad was bland. They did offer free coffee and dessert... More

Dining before a Disney Hall concert......took 2 phone calls to get a confirmed reso for a Sunday evening. When we arrived we noticed the Health Dept. "B" on the door. What is that all about? A wine reception event was just finishing. We don't think they were ready for us despite the confirmed 5:30 reso. Our new server was pleasant... More

Just across the street to the Music Center and Disney Hall. Parking in the Music Center garage works if you are going to a preformance. Small, quiet, easy but tight seating. Strange location in a strip mall for an upscale resturant. We enjoyed excellent trout in paper and rich and delicious coq au vin. Service was attentive and freindly. Although... More

This place was good, the dinner came as part of the package with the Uncabaret tickets. The meal itself was great, although it was a prix fixe menu it was still plenty of food that left us stuffed! I had the salmon and my husband originally ordered beef but with some kitchen errors it turned out to be chicken... no... More

We had dinner before a concert at the Disney Concert Hall. The restaurant is conveniently located across the street. I ordered the short ribs which were quite good but I had to send them back the first time because they were barely warm and the mashed potatoes weren't warm at all. Our server was very nice about it and immediately... More

The skinny: Parking: not sure, we walked from metro Decor: elegant Service: horrible Bathroom: filthy Soda: weak uncarbonated coca cola Food: hit and big miss We came here with high expectations and we were fearfully disappointed. We took the metro from the valley to downtown and walked to the restaurant. I liked the close proximity to the Disney concert hall... More

Located as it is right next to the Disney Hall and across the street from the Music Center, it's a perfect spot for before-or-after theater dining. On Sunday the art deco back room is host to the Un-Cabaret, a delight show of comedy and music.

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
