Good sushi but bad hot kitchen

The sushi was actually really good. However, the food that comes out of the hot kitchen was cold and timed wrong. My wife and I ordered from both kitchens. My steak came out 15 minutes before my wifes. As I sat there waiting for her food to arrive, my steak got cold. When hers arrived, it was... read more

Because of bad timing, we arrived shortly before a Los Angeles Kings game and the hockey shirted crowd was a loud one. Once they departed the atmosphere improved dramatically, although the service did not. The sushi and sashimi choices were fairly generic, the spicy tuna worthy of a second serving. Rather than a second glass of wine we were happy... More

The service was terrible! It was difficult to order our food and it took forever to get what we had ordered. It seemed like the wait staff forgot we were there and we had empty plates sitting at our table for about an hour and no one came back to get them. When we finally got the waiters attention, he... We order the crab rolls in rice/soy paper, teriyaki chicken, nabeyaki udon, edamame (small bowl) and shrimp and mozzarella cheese tempura. They are all good size and delicious. However, I still think the prices are a bit steep considering the quality of the food. I would recommend to visit for a special occasion meal or for paycheck day but not... More

Dropped in after the rush for the game next door... Probably no point before without a booking! Tried sashimi and a salad the first night plus some unique cocktails .... Just gorgeous food and lovely presentation. Authentic and so tasty :) Wanted to try the wagyu so figured I'd come back again ... And was not disappointed ... Who knew... More

Very friendly and welcoming front desk staff who seating me (dining alone) in a great outdoor spot so I could people watch. I "checked in" with Yelp and got a free appetizer which was so good wished I had a whole order. Waiter suggested a great hand rolled baked crab roll which was awesome (don't order if you don't like... More

We were there the same night as a red-carpet film opening, so the place was packed with loud, overly coiffed "look-at-me" twentysomethings. It's amazing how things settled down once they exited en masse. The three-kitchen concept provides a lot of choices. Everything we had was excellent. Not a place for walk-ins based on the location and quality. Make reservations.

We walked by before the hockey game and it was so busy we decided to come back after. I have been to a few of the Katsuya locations and knew what we should order. We sat at the bar and was shocked at how great the service was. Definitely will go there again when seeing an event at Staples center.

Had some very good fresh sushi here. And good drinks too. The ambiance was loud and busy. This does not seem to be the place for a romantic dinner. But if you want very good sushi going any go wrong here.

I am a season ticket holder at Staples so I am always looking for pre-game meals. This, so far, was the worst. The waiter strenuously recommended the black cod. Did not mention that the fish came with bones. At those prices, you would think they could debone or at least pre-warn and let us decide if we wanted to deal... More
