Nickel Diner has a down home vibe, complete with tuck-and-roll red leather walls and retro dining tables and chairs. But it's the food that is the draw for downtown LA denizens as well as curious visitors like us. Lines form early here for parties of 4 or more, but we were happy to share a large table with another two.... More

I saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and had to try their Maple Bacon Donut and was not disappointed. This place is quite a character diner and next time I'm going to try something else on the menu. There were tons of choices and the food around me looked great. Definitely will be stopping by next time I... More

Aug 14 Best pancakes ever! The bacon donut is worth a try. I had the cluck and duck. It was something a little different ( duck sausage, see fried eggs and polenta) but it was superb! Staff are very welcoming and treated us like we were the only family in there. More than just breakfast; a grat experience all round.

They changed their famous maple bacon donut. How disappointing. Pulled pork dish was okay. Too much sauce. It was a bit disheartening as the first time we went here we raved and raved! We had several friends go down to try it and even brought us back our favorite donuts. But this time- it was tooooo sweet. Something changed.

We had breakfast at the 5¢ Diner and it was delicious. The Egg scramble with bacon, spinach and topped with goat cheese was excellent. I had the polenta instead of the potatoes and it made for a great combination. The biscuit was served with house made Peach jam. My husband had the had the Spicy BBQ Pork Hash topped with... More

The Nickel Diner was our first breakfast stop after travelling from South Africa. The maple syrup bacon doughnut is worth travelling for. It was my favourite thing that I tasted in 3 weeks in the USA. It's a short walk from the Millenium Biltmore hotel. The staff are friendly and service was great. Their homemade lemonade was truly great.

Saw this on the popular TV show DDD's and wanted to try the famous bacon doughnuts. Please hold on for that review. When I sat down I was hungry so I wanted more than just a doughnut, I asked the waiter "What do I wanna eat" He happily gave me a few options with the "smack and cheese" being one... More

We found this place quite by accident. A very happy accident. We were leaving the Central market as wed had breakfast there the day before looking for something new. We asked a stranger and he sent us this way. I had the Sunday special of Duck / Bacon sausage, the creamy polenta, smoked greens and soft boiled eggs rolled in... More

I heard so much about this place. My co-workers raved about it, so one day a couple of us went there. Dumpy neighborhood but did find a meter a block away. The place was just so so looking. Food was good bit not memorable. Prices were reasonable. I just don't think it is worth the trip.
