The Nickel Diner was our first breakfast stop after travelling from South Africa. The maple syrup bacon doughnut is worth travelling for. It was my favourite thing that I tasted in 3 weeks in the USA. It's a short walk from the Millenium Biltmore hotel. The staff are friendly and service was great. Their homemade lemonade was truly great.

Saw this on the popular TV show DDD's and wanted to try the famous bacon doughnuts. Please hold on for that review. When I sat down I was hungry so I wanted more than just a doughnut, I asked the waiter "What do I wanna eat" He happily gave me a few options with the "smack and cheese" being one... More

Service was average, plain meals but enough to fill one up until lunch time. Result was we were full and satisfied and that's all that matters, great job!

We found this place quite by accident. A very happy accident. We were leaving the Central market as wed had breakfast there the day before looking for something new. We asked a stranger and he sent us this way. I had the Sunday special of Duck / Bacon sausage, the creamy polenta, smoked greens and soft boiled eggs rolled in... More

I heard so much about this place. My co-workers raved about it, so one day a couple of us went there. Dumpy neighborhood but did find a meter a block away. The place was just so so looking. Food was good bit not memorable. Prices were reasonable. I just don't think it is worth the trip.

We were referred by the concierge at our hotel. We're so glad that we took the walk and found the Nickel (5c) Diner. We were told that they're famous for their donuts. Wow. They did not disappoint. Far and away the best thing that I've eaten in the USA so far! Breakfast was great. The portions are huge and the... More

I have a map of restaurants/diners reviewed on TV and found this one as we were visiting the CA Science Center and wanted to check out a starred and reviewed restaurant nearby. We were not disappointed. It's a 50's type of diner with comfort food that has a trendy edge to it. It was a "Mom's Day Out" for my... More

The rule in our family is when we land at LAX we drive directly to the nickel diner for breakfast. The last time we were there the owner was kind enough to give us a homemade pop tart to try on our flight home! We love this restaurant and the staff is outstanding. It is a must when in LA!... More

There is a reason why this place always has a long wait! It's comfort food with a twist. I had the buttermilk brined pork shops with biscuits, gravy, sautéed spinach, and apples. There was so much food for only $13. The home made jams and apple butter are also amazing and the customer service was also great!

The hamburguers were good. The staff is very nice. The decoration is retro. However, I didn't find a taste that would surprise me.
