A delicious experience sharing several small plates with my friend. We especially enjoyed the sweetbreads, the poutine, and the cheesecake pudding. We were surprised that the restaurant is beer/wine only (no cocktails). We would have also enjoyed a slower pace so that we could take a breath between courses. But overall the experience was great!

Yes we did order lots of meat but the menu offers so much more so don't be put off by the name. My wife does not eat beef but loved the menu too. Execution of food was great and wait staff along with the general ambiance made for a great overall experience.

We had a wonderful dinner of shared small plates at Animal. This is what we ordered for three women: Three orders of chicken liver toast. Rib-eye carpaccio, savoy cabbage, sesame, kochukaru. Farm egg, “toad in a hole,” truffle, english pea, bacon, gruyere. Melted p’tit basque, chorizo, grilled bread. Albacore tuna “tataki,” heirloom bean, meyer lemon, charred spring onion. Two orders... Wine list is very nice. Same can't be said about the prices which show a 300 to 600 pct margin. Sweet breads soggy and sauce is dominant. Uni dish hardly any uni to be found. Brussels sprouts excellent. Poutine not bad but underseasoned. Pork ribs very tender and juicy, excellent. Bone marrow very good. Overall good but the wine prices... More

At Animal, you get the opportunity to eat all parts of the animal- nose to tail eating, in a well-done way. It was my first experience with eating (calves) brains... they tasted like creamy, custard-y scrambled eggs. The menu is made up of mostly smaller plates and the four of us who ate together ordered a lot of small plates... More

Animals is yet another small plate restaurant in this area. As other reviewers mentioned, you have to know it's there ... no signs to see from the street. Also, keep in mind, their menu does change fairly regularly. Anyway, we ordered six different plates, and my favorites were: Ribeye Carpaccio .... the Rib Eye is sliced paper thin (& raw)... More

Animal rocks. I had heard the good, bad and ugly, but never been here myself. My companion had been here before. We ate like pigs. We ate pig (crispy pig head; balsamic pork ribs). We also ate: veal brains, marrow bone with chimichurri, poutine with oxtail gravey and cheddar, and foie gras on a biscuit with maple sausage gravey. The joint was... More

Yes, we enjoyed each of the five plates we shared (plus one dessert item). The music was a little too loud, but it didn't really interfere with conversation. It did seem tacky to be charged 50 cents for two servings of filtered tap water with a $60 per person meal (without alcohol). I've been to Animal Restaurant once, I don't... More

This was the first of a 30 restaurant food trip to LA and Vegas. the food here had some hit and miss dishes. Crispy pigs ears was very food, also the special burger, brussels sprouts and the cabbage salad also good. I liked the sweetbreads but my colleagues said a bit oily. The rabbit legs was an unusual dish. I... More
