Walked in without reservation and ate at bar...enjoyed chicken liver toast, pickled beets, crispy sweetbreads and hamachi collar. Highly recommended.

Animal is a definition of a Los Angeles vibe and experience where different cultures influence one another. The food here is unique, yet enough umami to make you want to eat another bite. The portion seems bit small compared to the price paid but if money is not a issue, its perfect for ordering multiple like (10-20) dishes. Ribeye carpaccio,... More

No clue how the kids eating here could afford it but that just added to the people-watching quality. Meat-centric is putting it mildly, but one of my favorites was a beet dish with pimento cheese.

3 1/2 stars. Animal is on trend with the family style, tapas, small dishes thing going on in LA. Order a bunch of stuff here and share. The quail, it is delicious, as was the Hamachi tostada. Pass on the pigs ears, you can get a better pigs ear dish at any San Gabriel valley Chinese restaurant. Their burger is... More

Wow, we had no reservation. This place is booked out weeks in advance, but we managed a table at the bar. The whole experience here was 10/10. The person who sat us down, the bar staff, the waitperson, the food, OMG, the food. We had a beautiful bottle of wine from the extensive list. They also have a sister seafood... More

A delicious experience sharing several small plates with my friend. We especially enjoyed the sweetbreads, the poutine, and the cheesecake pudding. We were surprised that the restaurant is beer/wine only (no cocktails). We would have also enjoyed a slower pace so that we could take a breath between courses. But overall the experience was great!

Yes we did order lots of meat but the menu offers so much more so don't be put off by the name. My wife does not eat beef but loved the menu too. Execution of food was great and wait staff along with the general ambiance made for a great overall experience.

We had a wonderful dinner of shared small plates at Animal. This is what we ordered for three women: Three orders of chicken liver toast. Rib-eye carpaccio, savoy cabbage, sesame, kochukaru. Farm egg, “toad in a hole,” truffle, english pea, bacon, gruyere. Melted p’tit basque, chorizo, grilled bread. Albacore tuna “tataki,” heirloom bean, meyer lemon, charred spring onion. Two orders... Wine list is very nice. Same can't be said about the prices which show a 300 to 600 pct margin. Sweet breads soggy and sauce is dominant. Uni dish hardly any uni to be found. Brussels sprouts excellent. Poutine not bad but underseasoned. Pork ribs very tender and juicy, excellent. Bone marrow very good. Overall good but the wine prices... More
