Meat Party!

At Animal, you get the opportunity to eat all parts of the animal- nose to tail eating, in a well-done way. It was my first experience with eating (calves) brains... they tasted like creamy, custard-y scrambled eggs. Animals is yet another small plate restaurant in this area. As other reviewers mentioned, you have to know it's there ... no signs to see from the street. Also, keep in mind, their menu does change fairly regularly. Anyway, we ordered six different plates, and my favorites were: Ribeye Carpaccio .... the Rib Eye is sliced paper thin (& raw)... More

Animal rocks. I had heard the good, bad and ugly, but never been here myself. My companion had been here before. We ate like pigs. We ate pig (crispy pig head; balsamic pork ribs). We also ate: veal brains, marrow bone with chimichurri, poutine with oxtail gravey and cheddar, and foie gras on a biscuit with maple sausage gravey. The joint was... More

Yes, we enjoyed each of the five plates we shared (plus one dessert item). The music was a little too loud, but it didn't really interfere with conversation. It did seem tacky to be charged 50 cents for two servings of filtered tap water with a $60 per person meal (without alcohol). I've been to Animal Restaurant once, I don't... More

This was the first of a 30 restaurant food trip to LA and Vegas. the food here had some hit and miss dishes. Crispy pigs ears was very food, also the special burger, brussels sprouts and the cabbage salad also good. I liked the sweetbreads but my colleagues said a bit oily. The rabbit legs was an unusual dish. I... More

Here are the facts: every dish has meat in it, the dishes are all small plates, the chefs will not alter their dishes despite your requests, the restaurant is loud and crowded, the meal will cost at least $100 for two people and yes, they charge you for water. If you are going to complain about any of these things,... More

The food was very good. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. However I think he gave me the wrong drink. The hostess acted like she was better than her position and kinda snooty. Everyone else seemed very down to earth. The restaurant was not full, as I understand it often is. There are no signs or hours on the... More

This place does not post a sign outside so you probably would miss it walking by. According to my daughter this was the cool place to eat. We made our reservation and the place was so noisy that we could not hear ourselves think. Very pricey and it is or st least was when we were there a small plates... More

Adventurous food and a great addition to the LA food scene. Had a terrific bottle of Pinot noir here as well. Prices are reasonable. It's a great spot with memorable food. Staff is also attentive.
