Just back from joining 3 friends for a dinner at ANIMAL. Animal serves a 'tapas style' small plate menu, which I must say was tasty. But I must honestly share with the Trip Advisor readers that I WOULD NEVER RETURN to ANIMAL, as the place is too damn noisy and too uncomfortable. I felt that it was designed to be hip,... More

They boast of nose to tail eating and are not joking. The food was creative and all the dishes we had were memorable. Don't ask them to help you choose wine though, our waiter tried and got it 100% wrong. I also enjoyed the concept of ordering lots of dishes to share.

Although, we missed the foie gras ban, there is still plenty to choose from to tantalize your taste buds. My friend and I ordered the fried beef tendon ($15), pigs head ($12), he'e ($13, octopus), marrow ($10) and oxtail poutine w/ cheddar ($18). To accompany all this rich, savory food we chose a 2006 Sudtirol Lagrein from Italy ($70). Our... More

The weirder the types of food the better it tastes. Brains, tongue , pig head for example. Great food! However my wife has a severe peanut allergy. Normally she asks, but didn't this time until we were Into the meal. Turns out they fry in peanut oil. It should be posted on the menu given how many people how have... More

This was my second visit. And my friend insisted on getting the yellowtail tostadas again. I don't even like fish. But there is something about this dish that is just so perfect. The skirt steak was also delicious. The service was very good. And it was Lively but not too loud for us to have a conversation.

I went on recommendation of my brother who had saw the restaurant on "The Layover." I was by myself so I went to the bar for dinner. I arrived when it opened so I was one of the first few in the place. Sal (bartender) introduced himself immediately and showed me the different beer they had (all bottles) and pointed... More

We went to Animal with some friends who are in "the know" about this place. Doesn't look like anything from the street. We went late and it was not that crowded. The guy most in the know ordered for all of us and I think we tried just about everything in our big group and we ate every last bite.... More

Even without the headache making noise level, I would not have enjoyed Animal. I am beginning to feel that a chunk of the Los Angeles restaurant scene smacks of the Emperor's New Clothes. My first visit to Animal featured very tasty food, no doubt. But I am sooooo tired of kitchens telling me what and how to eat. Since Animal... More

This menu had some really interesting selections. They had a wide variety of veggie dishes, and meat dishes like pig ears, pig tails, bone marrow, and veal brains. I had their ricotta gnocchi with a 6-hour bolognese, which was so tasty! Dishes are small, so you have an opportunity to try many different plates. Most of the plates are not... More

I'd heard it was difficult to get in. Fortunately, when we showed up there were seats at the bar. I ordered a Mexican CocaCola. We sampled the poutine, rabbit, pork and turkey. Each was fantastic. Make sure your wallet is prepared.
