food was average, price was very high for what you got (we ordered a lamb dish that was supposed to be for 2, for $41, that was tiny & subpar!!!), the service staff was stuck up and not helpful, this place is super overrated, will not be coming back...

This has got to be one of my favorite restaurants! The food, ambiance, and customer service is great. My favorite dish there is the bone marrow. It's sooo yummy, along with all the great food! My fiance and I love coming here for date night. :)

We managed to get a reservation at Animal rather last minute on a Saturday. Having arrived a bit early, the maitre'd gave us a menu to peruse while we waited. We found ourselves looking up words like Uni (sea urchin), Yellowtail collar (the part of the fish right behind the gills), etc. Pig ears, veal tongue, are but a few... More

It was hard to find this restaurant, as there is no sign! Loved that:) The menu is diverse and so unusual. The crispy Pig ears with fried duck egg was wonderful! We were with locals that know the staff quite well, so our service was impeccable. Still dreaming of the Mexican street corn with epazote, Serrano & Parmesan cheese. The... More

The menu was so exciting! We were there too late to catch the rabbit, which was my first choice on the menu, but the other dishes that our server recommended did not disappoint. I ended up with the hamachi tostada and the beet salad. There were so many other things I look forward to ordering during my next trip. I... More

many of my friends who live in Los Angeles had suggested to try this somewhat "exotic" restaurant so decided to go Animal for dinner. the place is nice and intimate, nice friendly vibe. when looking at the menu, the textual descriptions of the offal on offer such as the veal tongue, brain and pig ears seemed quite appealing. but, out... The menu is large and it all sounds so good. I love the space and the atmosphere; it's pretty low key. Here's what we had: crispy pig ears with fried duck egg (AMAZING), marrow bone with chimichurri (a little overpowered by the chimichurri), roasted peaches with hazelnuts and berries (this was fine), jackrabbit larb (really good), and fried rabbit legs... The bare and basic restaurant space may throw you at first, but Animal serves up some of the most interesting and vibrant dishes in town. I can still taste the sauce from the Pork Belly Sliders some three months later, whilst the Turkey Leg similarly delights. Take a gaggle of your favourite non-vegetarian friends and have a feast with Animal.

The book, "Anything That Moves: Renegade Chefs, Fearless Eaters, and the Making of a New American Food Culture" by Dana Goodyear devotes about three pages to this restaurant, and it is well-deserved. I love chefs that can work magic with offal and these guys do it brilliantly. I visited with my wife and son and we shared plates that included... More

I will keep it short. I travel a lot and eat out even more. This is one of the best restaurants on the planet. Be sure to book ahead of time...way ahead of time. If you even have a remote chance of being in LA, book a table. It is well worth it. P.S. Oxtail poutine and the hamachi tostada... More
