German food in LA

In town for visit with family. Had very good dinner. Friendly wait staff and other diners. Had the wurst plate, kraut, spaetzle, and delicious red cabbage. Loved their gluehwein. Will come back again next time in town. Plenty of parking in back.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Swiss restaurant. We started with the pretzel which was enormous and quite tasty. I opted for the veal stew which was good. Nice acidity to it. The spätzle was good as was the cabbage. My friend enjoyed his steak salad. Fun place and not expensive.

It's hard to find a good German restaurant in LA. Among the few choices, this one is pretty good. Tucked into an office building near the airport, there's not much atmosphere, but traditional German and Swiss dishes (schnitzel, wurst, etc.) are very good.

Great German food with a fun atmosphere. A must do if you like German food. Two of us shared three plates, fun. You must try the Mac and cheese.

We're going there pretty often, last time on Oktoberfest buffet. Everything was really delicious: Wurstplatte, tender and juicy veal and pork sausages, German style rouladen, white and red sauerkraut - come with friends or family and taste it all! Fresh and crisp light and dark beers and live traditional music. Fun and tasty!

We've been going through German food withdrawal, especially with the demise of our favorite Berghoff in Chicago, and the paucity of German and Swiss cuisine in the LA area. Then we found Chalet Edelweiss in the Westchester area not far from LAX. It was a delightful find with terrific food in a fun casual atmosphere. We have gone there twice,... More

Scrupulously clean and tidy, this place. As you'd expect from a Swiss restaurant. And the menu holds a reasonable variety of goodies. They're all tasty, and as authentic as you'll find in the USA. This isn't a chain-approximation, in other words. It's the real deal. Fondue is excellent, as are the lunch offerings—I typically get the Zürcher Gschnätzlets and/or the... More

Pros: Tasty, varied menu Close to LAX, not so close it's especially noisy Prices you'd expect for LA, but not egregious Cons: None

I was invited to a private party at Chatel Edelweiß on Sepulveda Blvd. We were served wines (sadly I was driving), appetizers, and fondue, both of which were very tasty. I checked out the regular menu, and the next time I am at LAX for an early morning departure the next day this is where I shall be going for... More

Swiss cuisine is an enigma in the Los Angeles area. Enter Chalet Edelweiss in Westchester. You've probably whipped by it on the way to LAX, but slow down, and you will discover a real gem of eclectic and delicious cuisine. Nestled in an office building with loads of parking in the back, you will be transported to a quaint Alpine... More
