Mexican for Real

More upscale than typical El Torito's with a smaller yet more interesting menu. Bar drinks were reasonable and outstanding.

The food is in general good at all El Toritos, but during my last visit at the restaurant in Sherman Oaks I was very disappointed with the service. A friendly lady took our order but then never showed up again. When we asked what was happening Enrique who is actually working at the bar offered to go to the kitchen... More

I know it was a weekend night but really? Service was horrible. I don't know if the server was new or just overwhelmed. Other servers were bringing food and drinks to the wrong tables all over the place. Drinks ran low and one person that was having alcohol waited 20-25 minutes for her drink. The chips that came for free... More

Very nice staff, some of the best salsa I have had in a while, and the Fish Tacos were excellent...and of course the beer was cold, with a large selection of draft choices

Mexican food was a new venture so have nothing to compare this with. Waiter was very helpful in explaining different dishes. Portion size was just right - not so large that it was off putting but just right. This was a tasty introduction to Mexican food. Restaurant was lively and noisy and well supported by all ages.

I wish the food was as great as the service! Lots of food coloring used in almost everything. Tortillas in enchiladas very, very red, rice very green. Very little chicken in enchiladas. Margaritas seemed weak. Ok once in a while before a movie but it would not be my regular choice unless other restaurants were booked.

It was my first time dining at an El Torito, but I was very impressed. I nearly went to PF Changs, right around the corner, but saw there was a Mexican restaurant and went for it. I'm glad I did! It wasn't too pricey at all, my Tortilla soup was $4 for a cup, and was so delicious and filling.... More

This is a convenient place when catching a movie at the Arclight in Sherman Oaks. The food is always good, the service usually is very good and the atmosphere is fun. The tables outside are well heated. The fresh tortillas that are continually being made are excellent!!
