The entrance is on a side street downtown but was easy to find. The decor is fun. Walk all around and see the old electrical equipment preserved artistically. The food was good, especially the Mac and cheese. I recommend trying multiple small plates with friends. The little cocktail tables are best for one appetizer at a time. We just had... More

This place is such a memorable spot due to the history and architecture represented. The drinks are pricey and you can forget about sitting down unless you want to pay handsomely but its still well worth a visit to gaze at the decor and to catch a burlesque performance and watch a silent movie. The staff aren't particularly friendly and... More

The Edison is one of the most unique venues anywhere for drinks, dining, etc. Come early to walk through the entire facility and check out the historical artifacts, and ask one of the bartenders for something interesting to drink. Then come back after 8 for the real scene! Don't let the alley-entry put you off - this is not a... More

I have traveled the world, and this is absolutely the most fantastic bar/lounge that I've ever been in. If you enjoy a night out for a few cocktails, this is a definite DO NOT MISS. The entrance is kind of hard to find. It's not obvious from the main road. There is a small side-path off the street to get... More

One of the swankiest need to be seen at places in the city! The bartenders are ultra creative so give them a craving and let them creat something amazing for you! Call ahead for the VIP group seating in the back corner but wander around and check out history as well!

We went for happy hour. Great food and an amazing drink menu. I felt underdressed. Not a jeans and sweater kind of place. Thursday is the best deal for happy hour.

This place is reminiscent of a roaring 20's speakeasy in that you walk down a dirty looking alleyway to a non-descript entrance to access The Edison. Upon paying the cover you decend down a long flight of stairs into a strikingly beautiful bar/lounge with very tall ceilings, "Edison" style lighting, and a lot of pre WW2 charm. The Edison has... Mysterious and dark. Makes you feel like you are on the Silver Screen. Swanky witout the bourgeouis. Go to happy hour to absorb the atmosphere in plain clothes; get on the list if you want to stay for dinner.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
