Good Italian food in Downtown L.A.

My friends and I stopped at Colori Kitchen after touring Fashion Institure Design & Merchandising downtown. It is just a short walk from FIDM. We arrived just a little before the lunch crowd which did fill the restaurant. We all ordered the various pastas. Sauces are made fresh daily. I had the... read more

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here on a one night trip to LA. We looked on Trip Advisor to find a good place conveniently located on the walk from our hotel to the show we were going to see and we found Colori. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let the look fool you. The... More

Unassuming place, very much a whole in the wall. Wouldn't have even really noticed it if we weren't going there specifically. The food is excellent. Traditional homestyle Italian cooking. All fresh. Normal European style serving sizes, not giant US style ones. Service was good and efficient. Went there on a Friday night. Very much the downtown hipster scene. Reasonably priced.

Ambiance is good, service is great. There is no alcohol served but they do not charge for corkage fee! so you'll see that almost everyone brings a bottle of wine. It gets busy in dinner-time so go there early (6pm when it opens) Parking is available across street for $5-ish

This is a neighborbood Italian joint that I've visited before. The decor is a mix of charming and downscale (e.g. the warning about being video taped). The food is decent enough. The pasta is aldente, the risotto was creamy (if a bit salty) and the fish is fresh and simply prepared. It feels like the chef is starting to prepare... More

Was walking through downtown and kind of stumbled up Colori Kitchen. It's a small unassuming and humble locale. So we were more curious than anything. As you enter there's like this hip avant garde vibe. There's a nice little rumble from all the conversations. The dishes are immaculate. I ordered their Dine LA deal, chicken piccata. It came with some... More

Great little Italian place....excellent food at reasonable prices. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is well worth going in. Beware, however, that the area is rapidly redeveloping, so there is a lot of construction going on, streets partially closed and little on-street parking. And it's worth calling to make sure they are open - I was... More

Recommended by locals, the food is heavy Italian and oh, so, delicious! Good wine selection, great service. I was there with a group of 14 and service was great. I had the lasagna and it was a hearty portion of perfectly proportioned pasta, sauce, meat and cheese -- among the best I've had ever! The menu had all the classics... More

The place looks very small from outside but when you walk inside is very cozy. The quality of the food is excellent. I had a risotto with shrimp and squid that was incredibly good. Service is good. If you want to drink wine bring your own. Two doors down they sell liquor and wine at reasonable prices.

Wow, what can I say about this place? Well, it's location sucks because it's not in a great part of town. That said, the food makes it worthwhile. It was crowded when we arrived and that was a good sign. We did get a table although I'd suggest getting a reservation. Pasta, salads and everything showed care in the preparation.... More
