My favorite Italian dinner in the city

This small, family owned restaurant is one of the best in town. It's tiny (reservations recommended), BYOB, and the food is always on point. If you didn't BYOB, they have little wine menus from a convenience store around the corner that will deliver for free. Un. Real. Another bonus is the free... read more

New Years eve -but no such decor, all x-mas decorations except for the waiters hat with the logo 'happy new year'. Wooden chair and tables, and not a cosy environment for a special dinner. We had booked this for my partner's birthday to have a nice Italian dinner to celebrate. The food was average, portions mediocre for sharing, despite it... More

I'm one of those who go to Italy many times a year; It's becoming mostly pre cooked, then nuked and served. Not here, in L.A. The true authentic tasting ITALIAN food is prepared, on the spot, by the Chef ! Things smell good here. The dishes have a flavor. Yes it's bring your own booze, but what a deal: Trader... More

One of my favorite places in Los Angeles. Always get the calamari steak appetizer. Grilled with a citrus vinaigrette. Listed as a special but always available. Awesome! Healthy and flavorful. Moving on to dinner. Everything I've had has been great. Choppino. Home made pasta. Fish. All delicious. Choppino is big. Enough for two unless you are really hungry. Seafood cooked... More

Second time I am reviewing this place. Awesome Italian food. Even better experience than the first time. Lobster pasta was outstanding. Service is quick and efficient. Unpretentious place, which is a nice change from many places in LA. Very much a hipster crowd. Reasonably priced.

Yes, as mentioned by others. A hole in the wall but don't let the surroundings deceive you. Great Italian food. The waiter/host was super friendly and helpful.

This place is fantastic!! Well priced, generous portions, and the best food ever! Cute "hole in the wall" feel, but very clean. Attentive servers...and the best minestrone soup I've ever tasted! Also their chicken marsala is to die for.

We went there on a Tuesday night and had a great experience. The Italian hostess was very nice with our group and even practiced her French with us :) The food was very, very good. Also nice to see the chef in his kitchen just a few feet away. Highly recommended.

We were 9 and had no reservation. We had a place within 5 minutes. I had the Strogonoff pasta, they were just awesome. We also had the calamari in appetizer and it was delicious. My kids loved the Bolognese pastas and my friends had the Risoto & Parmigiana Chicken - they loved it also. We had a great time &... More

I had "Spaghetti Alle Vongole" in red sauce, it was wonderful, ate every single bite, felt like my own cooking! The serving is very generous, everyone should experience this wonderful meal!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
