This is where my wife and I go to feel "at home" in Italy without having to get on an airplane. We love the food and the people. L'Opera is a Long Beach tradition.

Not only does this upscale restaurant have the feel of a classy establishment, but it also has amazing food at a reasonable price. Not to mention the great view of the hustle and bustle outside of the city. I ordered the home made ravioli with a glass of wine. They have a LIVE OPERA SINGER who entertains its patrons on... More

It was our first time in this traditional looking dining room. Beautiful bar. The wine was pricey but a very good selection. The food was very good. The veal Milanese was tender and beautifully prepared and the risotto was prepared perfectly although it could have used a bit more seasoning. The Caprese starter was excellent. If in the area again... More

The food is wonderful. The service is impeccable--careful, accurate, and attentive, but not obsequious or obtrusive. Though it was a Saturday evening, the restaurant was only about half full--maybe it fills up later in the evening (we left about 9:15). I had lamb shank canneloni--a variation on canneloni that is new to me. It was delicious, with delicate flavors and... More

I would classify this as a Good restaurant. I recommend happy hour at the bar for the more economically minded. $3 glasses of house wine. We ordered one appetizer and four glasses of wine and also got a huge basket of foccacia bread for four people. The hostess was fabulous, she accomodated a group of six of us without a... More

Walking distance from our hotel, sat at the bar and the wait staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wines. I had the filet medallions over horseradish mash and it was perfect medium rare and tender. They matched my dish with a wonderful cab. I would absolutely go back again.

We had a wonderful dinner there with friends this past Labor Day weekend. It was a special meal and the waiter was very attentive.

I would say the meal was pretty good, but not as good as it looked. The clientele is mainly in their 50s to 60s which is fine, but I think the food should taste better than it did. The room is quite attractive in a very traditional way. I had a prix fixe, and my wife had pasta and some... More

This is a nice restaurant in a nice setting in Long Beach. Food is not terribly expensive, but wine is a little pricey. The papperadelle (maybe $14) were really good. I think this would be a nice place for a special occasion. Service was really nice too. The waiter recommended an excellent wine. I would eat here again.
