Service very friendly, food very good

We just got home from the Jalama Beach Cafe, actually our second visit for lunch in as many days. (My husband forgot his credit card there yesterday so we had to go get it, but we were glad we did -- another yummy lunch!) Yesterday we both had grilled shrimp tacos were we thought were quite... read more

Based on an outstanding dinner earlier that week I tried them for lunch. What a disappointment! Ordered the fish & chips with "beer battered haddock" expecting the same quality of fish. After a long wait I saw the otherwise cheery waitress approaching with a basket; I could see thin triangles of fish buried in chips. First clue that there was... More

This is a beautiful beach with a restaurant that has THE very best and biggest burgers you will ever eat. Unbelievable........it is always busy and takes some time to get ordered and food served, but well worth the wait..love the French fries!!!!

after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor we went to this restaurant with great expectations. Alas, we were disappointed. The food was average at best. The bread that came with the rib sandwich was soggy (should have been crispy, to counter the onion dip). The fries were so-so, slightly over salted. Service, on a night when the place was less than... More

If call this the Slow food wait. We weren't sure if it was a fast food place or a sit down diner. Either way it was slow and our waitress was cheeky to boot. We waited over a half hour in a joint that had no waiting lines and empty tables to get our food. With no explanations, no drink... More

I like to go and watch football games, get a great beer and eat fried chicken, mashed taters and gravy. Some would say the service is slow at the Cafe', but I disagree. The kitchen takes its time to create delicious, fresh food and the staff are generally experienced and professional. This is not fast food. If you want a... More

I was in town for business and this restaurant was recommended as, "if you have only one meal in Lompoc, you have to eat at Jalama Beach Cafe, and you have to have the Jalama burger." So, I followed that advice and it was excellent. The service was excellent, and I got the burger on chibata bread instead of the... More

Been going here sporadically for years and most times things have been good. Lately it seems quality has been going downhill. Some of the recent items I have had were less than stellar. They prime Rib just wasn't. The flat iron steak had no texture was about 4 inches thick. The cheddar bacon soup was rather salty.

I was meeting a friend for dinner. She had not arrived yet but they seated me and brought an appetizer plate of veggies and dip while I was waiting. Then they gave us time to order and our drinks. My burger was really great and the Jalama chips nice and crunchy. Wonderful and friendly. Food was yummy!

A nice little place, very old but restored really good. Not really a place for special occasions but always dependable for a good meal when you just want to get out of the house. The smothered steak is my favorite but the burgers are all really great.
