Ice Cream and Burgers

Right by the highway and a beacon for travelers on 395. Ice cream and other treats and a long menu of burgers and other fast foods. They have a nice grassy yard in the back where you can sit and enjoy your food, drink or ice cream. Open spring, summer and fall.

Mono Cone in Lee Vining (next to Mono Lake), is the perfect "Pit Stop" on 395 before or after you "climb" Tioga Pass (Yosemite), or if you need a brake driving between Lake Tahoe and Death Valley. Try their burgers and fries, or just a milk shake, they have so many flavors and they are so good...! There is a... More

An authentic Hamburger stand that has endured the decades because is is downright great! If you travel to Mammoth, June Lake, Mono Lake, or are headed to the east entrance of Yosemite - you should treat yourself to a good old fashioned open flamed cooked cheeseburger and Ice cream cone just outside Mono Lake in Lee Vining - a short... Traveling through and stopped in for an ice cream cone. They have the basic vanilla and chocolate soft serve, along with other foods and shakes. It is pretty straight forward…… ice cream and foods! We ordered at the window, sat outside at the picnic table and watched some traffic go by as we ate ice cream cones. They also have... More

We arrived in Lee Vining in late afternoon, too tired to think about where to eat, so were happy to choose the nearest of our motel receptionist's recommendations: Mono Cone, across the street. A variety of hamburgers, french fries (aka chips) and more kinds of milkshake than I dreamed existed. Food is cooked to order, so expect a delay. Do... More

We have eaten here so many times when are camping in the area, passing through the area or even in the vicinity that I can't believe I haven't reviewed this awesome hamburger joint! The burgers are among the best we have eaten, the shakes are really thick and delicious and it is just what you need when you have to... More

Odd to learn that they have no cones at the Mono Cone! And they only take cash...and ice cream flavors were limited to vanilla or chocolate or swirl. Big on shakes you can add flavors to. We ditched the line and opted for a dessert from one of the restaurants up the street. Plus, the Mono Cone closes at 7p.

Definitely the gem in the town. The ice cream was great...kids loved it. Food was good too..surprised us, but it really was. The guacamole burger was delish.

We have stopped here for their ice cream cone (nick named here Mono Cone) when in the Lee Vining area. Its enjoyable afternoon treat after a day of sightseing, hiking, fishing, etc. Its not a 5 star as the Jolly Kone in Bridgeport is better, but if not driving as far as Bridgeport (another hour plus away) ..... Mono Cone... More

Old school frosty place. My son and I each had a shake and were in HEAVEN! My kid's peach shake actually had pieces of real peach in it, and was refreshing. I had a white mocha shake and it was just what I needed to pep me up for our further adventures around Mono Lake. Oh, plus we got a... More
