Husband and wife team run this small restaurant frequented by locals. Just visited for the 5th time with a friend that lives there. Sit at the counter and watch Michael run the show. Everything is cooked there over a wood fire and he does it with the help of a sous chef. I would recommend the swordfish. It comes in... More

Had dinner with friends a few days ago--the swordfish and the filet/swordfish combo were terrific. Having been tipped off about the portion size, we ordered a couple of appetizers and split the entrees. Really worked out well. Will certainly return. The restaurant reminds me of old Laguna and Newport hangouts and is very casual--probably impossible to be under-dressed. The place... More

Swordfish and seafood are their specialty. I had a wonderful swordfish with Macademia nut sauce. The regular 'baseball size' cut was too large for me, so our waitress (the chef's wife) suggested I get the half cut which was more than ample. My husband had a Very Generous portion size Cioopino. His included a tuna steak, swordfish steak, very large... More

Cafe Zoolu Amazing! Every bite had flavors that made your eyes roll back in your head....it's that good! Best seafood I have ever had! I have travelled a lot...I've been to a lot of island destinations....I've had a lot of fish dishes, but the chef/owner here knows what he is doing! I had: World's best seabass Asian style...servied on coconut... More

Chef Michael presents a beautiful plate with amazing portions! The quality of the his seafood and meat cuts are simply the best! Loved the calamari! My husband loved the pork chops and the swordfish sampler was outstanding!

This restaurant is small and off the main street but appears to be a local favorite. Reservations are a must! The ahi is out of this world and the swordfish is just as amazing. The swordfish sampler is my favorite as I am able to try multiple variations. One of the main reasons I look forward to visiting Laguna is... More

After reading all the amazing reviews we were disappointed with our meal. Now, I love fish, sushi, tartare, I am not against raw fish. However, I dont think swordfish is one of those meant to be eaten partially raw. Swordfish is tricky, its horrible if overcooked, and tough if undercooked. mine was undercooked. I ordered the sampler, the sauces were... More

I've dined here for years. The ambience and food are the Best. I suggest you sit right at the counter and watch Mike the owner prepare your dinner. You can tell him how you'd like it and he'll take care of it. All the while his wife Toni oversees the personalized service to their guests.
