I have introduced so many people over the years to Cafe Zoolu, and without exception they all agree the seafood is the best they have ever had anywhere. The Scallop salad is to die for, but I confess to rarely having tried the meat dishes, as who can get past the wonderful fish? The sauces are spectacular and the last... more

Well known locally for excellent seafood. The swordfish is the signature dish. The ambience is that of an old diner. more

We are locals and love Zoolu's. You can share the "hunk of swordfish," and get the extra sides for $8, for a total of two entrees for $38.00. For fancy seafood, we don't think that's too bad and you still take home a doggie bag. They always have nice wine specials. It's a friendly, homey place yet romantic for two. more

From the outside it looks like an old house that needs a paint job, but this Zulu Cafe is probably one of the best places you will ever eat at in your life. The Swordfish is amazing. We took our entire family there and the dishes were all super good. they even had meatloaf and (i didnt eat that, i... more

i loved this place. it is what it is. good people putting out top quality at a price that IS NOT TO HIGH, considering the portion size and and cost and quality of the ingredients. the cost of the ingredients must be at least 1/2 to 2/3 of the meal and super fresh. IT IS VERY APPARENT they are folks... more

We were a group of six with a reservation made days in advance. We experienced the very steely/harsh personality of the hostess on the phone and in person. If you are going to offer wine (decent bottle $50 and goes to $200+), please invest in serving it properly. The red wine was warm and the white wine barely chilled. When... more

We recently went to Cafe Zoolu based on a coworkers suggestion and a decent Zagat's rating. The place sits a little over a block from the beach. It is small but unique and cozy. We did not have a reservation from our group of 5 but the hostess was able to get us a table which was nice. A first... more

Excellent food. Tiny restaurant in an out-of-the way setting. So good luck finding it - but it's well worth the search. more

I have been in Laguna for 30+ years. I had not been to Cafe Zoolu for about 10 years. To my surprise, the attitude from the front door was just like P.C.H. today. Rude and not old school Laguna. If you are going to charge L.B. prices and the food is as inconsistent as the weather,at least have a good... more

We visited Cafe Zoolu for the third time in April 2007. The hostess/waitress was abrupt and rude as she has been on our past two visits but the food was always superb and far makes up for her attitude. But not this time. The swordfish was nearly raw and very tuffffff! It is painful to spend that much money and... more
