There is nothing special about the food here. However, the atmosphere is WAY better than any other Mexican Restaurant I have been to in SD. There is a live band playing and that makes it entertaining, except when they start playing next to you and you are kind of expected to give them a tip.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch here with the girls after bridesmaid dress shopping. Food was wonderful, service was great and the coconut margarita is HIGHLY recommended. (I was curious and so grateful I ordered it!).

A fun place with solid Americanized Mexican dishes. We used to go to CDP when it was in Old Town, San Diego. Inside, it has a very festive atmosphere similar to the original and you don't realize you are in a mall parking lot! I enjoyed the tamales and tostada. My dining partner said the enchiladas were very good also.... More

We've been going to Casa De Pico for years and I've never thought of submitting a review before, but this time I ordered their Grilled Salmon Fresco. I don't know if it's new on the menu or I just haven't noticed it before but I swear, this salmon was the best I've had anywhere - not too much, not too... More

We've visited San Diego several times over the past 10 years and every visit includes a meal at Casa de Pico. We first visited them when they were in Old Town and followed them to La Mesa after the move. We know we can count on a filling dinner in a relaxing environment with quality food. They have a beautiful... More

The best Mexican food in town, only surpassed by the sister restaurant in Old Town Casa Guadalajara (which also has a much nicer patio area). If I was only going to visit one Mexican restaurant while I was in San Diego, it would be one of these two. Excellent carne asada, the best refried beans anywhere, outstanding selection of Mexican... My daughter loves this place and the granddaughters, too. The girls love their rice and beans and my daughter loves their margaritas. As do I. So everyone wins! Their chicken tortilla soup is excellent and I usually pair it with an enchilada. My daughter prefers their grilled chicken and avocado taco. And the food is always served quickly and courteously. Being from Texas, this is a completely different style and taste of Mexican food. Extremely delightful, and while filling, not heavy. They have great specials, and a happy hour buffet which is complimentary.

The atmosphere is not the same as when Casa De Pico was located in Old Towne, but the food and the service is still excellent. The homemade tortillas are still just as good. The bar is big enough for large parties to wait for their table comfortably. I have yet to have a bad meal there. We had had a... More

This is the perfect place for families, couples, friends or just yourself. With a large outdoor seating area it is a fun place to have drinks during happy hour. Coming from the east coast, I was curious to see if there is a difference between Mexican food on the coasts. I can now assure you there is a HUGE difference... More
