Excellent food, not so good service!

We had a birthday dinner on March 6th. There were 11 of us, so when we made the reservation the hostess suggested the patio. The surroundings were very pleasant, the food was delicious as usual, but our server was awful. We had to wait between courses a long time! She forgot items and had to be... read more

We have eaten at the Brigantine in La Mesa many times over the years, and have had many excellent meals. But, we have also had a couple of meals which were disappointments. Service has usually been excellent, but sometimes spotty because they are so busy. Maybe it is just too popular - too busy. We are now going elsewhere as... More

This place has been a go to seafood destination for my family for decades. Lately, we've discovered that their happy hour and bar menu in the bar area have delicious and reasonably priced selections. Their calamari sandwich is the best I've ever had anywhere. Their swordfish with lime cilantro butter is to die for on their traditional dinner menu. Recently,... More

I ate at the bar and there were excellent servers and bartenders. after a nice cocktail I had a delicious dinner of calamari, fresh oysters, and shrimp, following a caesar salad. Small wine list but reasonable and i got the wines I wanted by the glass and the pours were generous. Overall check very reasonable.

I've never understood the allure of The Brigantine. People flock there, but why? It's okay. The food is okay. The portions are just okay, but nothing to brag about. The famed fish tacos are just okay. The wait staff are nothing special. But prices are steep. Parking is a fender-bender waiting to happen - the place is perched on the... More

I love this local watering hole. Great happy hour food and drinks. In fact this is where I met my husband 19 years ago. They catered my wedding. I can't say enough great things. Gotta go for yourself you won't be dissapointed.

Used to frequent this place regularly until a couple doses of food poisoning soured me on the experience. Sorry to say, but you take your chances here.

We have eaten at the Brigantine many many times and have chosen it often for special occasions. We ate here for my birthday on Wednesday. The waiter was new he told us but he did fine. My daughter and I got salmon and it came with some cauliflower mush that was not very good. The salmon was fine. It costs... More
