What a lovely restaurant and a nice surprise in the middle of La Mesa, which has mostly family and chain restaurants (many of which are good, too). This is a bit more upscale and the prices, decor, and variety of dishes reflect it -- a lot of them are regional Italian specialties, not the typical pizza-pasta combos often found locally.... more

Fresh food, authentic recipes, great find. The highest-quality Italian restaurant in La Mesa, if not all of East County. Gaslamp prices, but decent portion size. Nice wine selection. A great experience. It got a great review in the Reader, which is why we checked it out. more

My husband and I recently ate dinner there mid week. We ordered the gnocci caprese and the penne alla norma. The gnocci was very light and tender and the sauce combined with the fresh mozzerella and arugula was fantastic! The penne was also very good.
