Great food, ample portions, with a wonderful view overlooking the bay

Arriving without a reservation at 4:45 pm in the evening (too early to eat in the main restaurant, which is not open until 5:30 pm) my family elected to eat in the restaurant's Bistro Bar rather than wait 45 minutes, or go elsewhere. After a long day in La Jolla we enjoyed the beautiful outdoor dinner. We had a few happy hour beers at the side bar then ate on the outdoor deck. It was dark so no view but it was nice to be outside all day and the heaters make it extra nice.

As we entered the dining room I saw a deuce with a great view, in an alcove overlooking the ocean, yes! It was a great table, the sort that made me want to snap a picture and say "ask for this one." The location is blessed with good views. The food and service were very good.

While a dinner, the waitress split an entire glass of red wine on my friend's head, down her back, and into her pants. The waitress never apologized to her. The waitress also brought the wrong martini and tried to play it off as she was bringing us an extra drink for free. The ticket came; not only did they charge... More

My wife and I chose to dine here for our anniversary and were not disappointed by the service or the entrees. The service was exceptional and we were seated outdoors at a quiet table by the window. Outdoor heaters kept it toasty. The restaurant is located in beautiful location overlooking the bay. We started with the Fire Shrimp and Grits... More

I suppose one should eat crab in a place called Crab House, but we ate fish and were not overwhelmed. The service was wonderful. This seems like an old established place that has done little to keep competitive with the more inventive chefs in the area. Fresh fish, prepared reasonable with nothing special to real. My son ordered scallops over... More

We had a leisurely lunch at Crab Catcher. Attentive service & great fish. 1/2 price special on bottles of wine, the view from the patio can't be beat!

Three years running.... this is our fave spot for happy hour. Which lasts 6 hours... $4 martini, wine, beer, $8 margaritas...The FISH TACO is delightful. We went more than once, and I had it every time. Tangy slaw, crispy deep fried fish, filled to the edges... ask for the hot sauce. And extra napkins... The pizzas used to be flatbread,... More

It's unfortunate a restaurant with such mediocre fare and lack of ambiance took over such a prime location in La Jolla. A better stellar offering for both seafood and steaks is right next door at Eddie V's...

If you are a crab lover, and I am, you MUST save your pennies and have their 7.5 pound Bering Sea King Crab! This thing was on a platter that I swear looked like a football field. It was the most enticing plate of crab that I've ever saw. You will need to place a special order weeks in advance... More
