We came for an early afternoon snack and to enjoy the view, so we had no expectation of wonderful dining. We sat outside on the more informal patio. The service was great. I had crab-stuffed mushrooms, which were beautifully presented but just OK. Another party member had nachos, which were not good at all. Someone else had fiery shrimp, which... more

Stopped in at 4;30, dinner didn't start until 5:30, so we checked out the bar menu. It was pretty extensive, and cheap, so we loaded up on oysters, fish tacos, stuffed mushrooms, and clams. Drinks were reasonable too. Problems: the stuffed mushrooms were made with cheese that was going bad- the stink overwhelmed the supposed crab stuffing. the clams were... more

It's been a while since I was in LaJolla and visited the Crab Catcher, but I can't wait to go back. The view from the restaurant is unbelievable, you have to see it. My group stopped in after a kayaking trip, needless to say we weren't the best dressed group there, but we were made to feel welcome anyway. We... more

Crab Catcher has a great location on La Jolla with a wonderful view of the ocean. The menu offers an extensive variety of seafood choices, along with a few meat entrees for those non-seafood diners. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent sushi. I wasn't expecting sushi, and not only do they serve it, but its some of the best... more

Set in La Jolla Cove -- our friend wanted to go to another place, but we wanted seafood, this being our first trip to San Diego. I had sea bass which was not good, not bad. The fresh oysters were OK. Nothing great. Overall, just mediocre -- not good not bad food. It appears the rule is true -- if... more

My husband happened to see an ad for the Crab Catcher and recognized the name on an early morning walk around La Jolla. We decided to check it out mostly for its beautiful cliff, hillside and oceanviews high above the busy streets. We totally lucked out as we were able to take advantage of the "sunset dinner specials". Not only... more

We were there today and the soup and salads and raw oysters were great, but the "special of the day" crab sandwich was inedible. It does have a great view. more

My husband & I decided to try out the Crab catcher for Sunday brunch on our first day in La Jolla. Brunch entrees ran around $20 and include pastries and endless champagne. I had a crab omelet, husband had crab enchiladas. Both of our dishes were tasty and had plenty of crab meat that tasted like it just came out... more
