Manhattan of La Jolla transports you to the best of New York via the cozy, upscale village of La Jolla. Located in the Empress Hotel on Fay Avenue, it is an elegant, casual and classy place where you would expect to see Old Blue Eyes or Danny Ocean romancing a beautiful woman while she sips her Cosmo over dinner. With quality Italian charm, Manhattan offers classic cocktails that get you into that New York swing--and the entrees are as good as it gets. Liberal olive oil, garlic, lemon and pepper complement the Zagat Award winning veal chop, steaks and seafood. Signature scampi, classic cannelloni, pasta al dente, and other succulent dishes, plus professional service and decor make this a terrific spot for a romantic dinner or mixing business and pleasure. Manhattan in La Jolla gets you the best of both worlds. Manhattan is an award winning La Jolla favorite, celebrating its 25th year.

Great steak in La Jolla Vilage

Our visit to Manhattan in La Jolla Village was great. We eat out in the village once or twice a week. Manhattan has the best steaks in the village. Service was the best. Actually felt a little like gooing out to eat at a traditional steak restaurant in New York City.

We first went to Manhattan’s La Jolla in 1988 after we’d just moved back to La Jolla from Hawaii where I’d been working in high end dining for several years (first as a waiter then as a manager) so my standards were high and my palate was educated. We absolutely loved this place. Everything about it was en pointe. We’ve... More

Aptly named "Manhattan." If you like waiters with name badges and say "hi my name is", this place is not for you. Classic in every way: perfect martinis, Caesar salad mixed at the table (hard to find that anymore in So. California); servers who go far enough back to have been called waiters & know their trade; great chops. Locals... More

The food and atmosphere are wonderful, however, if you're under the age of 45, prepare for lousy service. We were treated as if we couldn't afford to be there to begin with, regardless of how appropriate we were dressed. Little did our server know that I'm a sommelier, and until I ordered great wine and a chateaubriand did we get... More

Always friendly, delicious and inviting. One of our neighbor favorites for any occasion. Quick dinner in the bar, dinner with friends or special occasions. They never disappoint

My mother's 90th birthday was held here. We were allowed to decorate the table with her favorite flowers, and they allowed my brother, who flew in for the event, to pose as a waiter to take her drink order until she recognized him. Now onto the meal.... everyone enjoyed their food that evening and went out of there way to... More
