About 20 years of consistantly good

Very reasonable at lunch, while dinner is also very good. They feature most Thai dishes including Pad Thai and most curry dishes. Be careful, let them know, if you want your dishes served mild, hot or in-between. If you say nothing, your dish may end up quite spicy.

Enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying a Thai iced tea! Had heat lamps which was good as it was chilly and windy when we visited. Pad Thai was good and enough for two to share for a nice lunch if you're in the mood for Thai.

Better than Chiang Mai, so authentic to say the least! We loved the Pad Thai, crispy chicken red curry (super flavorful with lots of healthy veggies), and the Thai iced tea. The wait staff embodied the charming Thai friendliness that we have come to know and love in our visits to Thailand - super friendly, asked us a million times... More

We were told by a family member to try this place out. As we walked up to the restaurant they had a nice patio dining area with heaters..we decided to eat inside to check out the rest of the place. What a great meal we had..!! We tried the Cashew Nut with Pork and it was one of the best... More

If I was asked to have one last meal the “Hot Thai Basil” would be it and this is based on over thirty visits. It’s very hard to find any restaurant that is always consistently perfect in service, quality, quantity and outdoor ambience.

It seems the downturn in dining out that occurred after the financial collapse has hurt a lot of restaurants, even though they managed to stay open. That seems to be the story at Spice & Rice Thai Kitchen. I had lunch there today, the first time in over six years. I was just looking for a quick bite and had... More

Lovely outdoor patio. Service was pretty good. Large selection of lunch specials. Fairly large portions. I had high hopes, but I ordered the Pad Thai and it was pretty bland. The others at the table enjoyed their lunches, I tried bites of other dishes, both were fine, but nothing special. I've had much better, but I've had worse.

Very good Thai food at a reasonable price in a pleasant environment. We would go back when we are in La Jolla.

This was probably our worst meal in La Jolla on our trip. The outdoor patio looked nice, but we were seated inside which looks like a chinese factory cafeteria. Every dish tasted all the same. Everything tasted like two extra tablespoons of sugar were heaped on it. The soup - Tom Yum - tasted like vinegar and sugar. The Penang... More
