Good for lunch

Food pricey, served hot, two meals delivered and 10 minutes later other two arrived? Servers very polite. Told us moving from this location soon.

Maybe I'm not used to "authentic" and have been spoiled by Mexican food that is "wannabe" on the east coast. I wasn't a fan of the thick chips (although the salsa was good.) Chile relleno was decent but not the best I've had. Cheese tamale was good but good cheese could make cardboard edible. Rice and beans weren't the most... More

This is a restaurant of long standing in La Jolla and I've stopped in for lunch occasionally over the years. Last night a group of 7 of us got together there for dinner, and I think we were all disappointed. The place is dark and depressing, and when we left at about 6:30 (on a Saturday) there were only a... More

Just a short walk from the beach so you can burn off those wonderful calories!! My husband and I had the home made chunky guacamole and chips to start and it was perfect, just the right amount of spice and the chips were thick and perfectly salted. I had the shredded beef taco and chicken enchilada combo meal that came... More

We took our small kids here after it was recommended by multiple staff at our hotel. The food was fantastic, staff was incredibly friendly and they made our kids feel welcome. It was so good we went back and ate there again the next night. Portions are big - we were stuffed!

This is close to the park in La Jolla where people go to see the sea lions, etc. It's located on a trendy street with shops, etc. The portions are HUGE and the food very good. Some menu items one doesn't always see for Mexican themed restaurants. They have outside seating, and music inside some nights. The gratis nachos are... More

Very casual Mexican restaurant. Great flavors, terrific margueritas and personable service. Would definitely return.

Food was good. Margaritas not so much. Mine came in a broken glass and the server didn't seem to care when I brought it to his attention. The best part of my visit was the man who I can only assume is a busboy. He was friendly and chatted us up whenever he brought us water or chips, or even... More

After walking the morning down by the beaches and watching the sea lions, we were thirsty and hungry when we came upon Alfonso's. I cannot lie that the Ice Cold Beer started things with a smile for us, but the food was excellent as we sat by the street side and watched life go by. Excellent experience. Recommended to everyone.

Blah food, great location, fair service. It's just not memorable but a lot of people seem to like it. There are too many, much better Mexican restaurants in San Diego.
