We were seeking a low-key, recommended-by-locals, taco shop. Don Carlos did not disappoint us! We enjoyed a late-afternoon lunch of tasty fish and chicken tacos, along with a Green Flash beer. Emphasis for the tacos was on tasty seasonings for the fish and chicken - with non-competing lettuce and fresh salsa - as well as additional sauces of choice. We... More

This place is one of my San Diego burrito staples. I used to get a California burrito every Saturday when I lived in the area. You can sit and eat there, which is a little crowded, or you can walk a few blocks and enjoy a burrito on the grass overlooking the ocean. You can find parking usually within a... More

This is a very old 'restaurant' in La Jolla. It is located next to Dick's Liquor on Pearly Street. I can hardly be called a restaurant since there are only two inside, and three outside tables. Very small, very friendly, and the food is very good.

The burritos were huge and delicious. You could definitely share one between friends, but I'm not sure if you want to! So good.

Such a small place, you would barely know it's there.. A total local gem.... Great Mexican food for a great price!

A great place if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. They have the best carne asada burrito I have ever eaten. The service is a little slow at times, but the portion size and freshness of the food make it well worth the wait. Whether you are visiting San Diego or a current resident, Don Carlos is a must.

The portion sizes are huge and filling. They're not expensive, considering the location. There's enough variety for vegetarians! Personally, I love the Scripps Burrito (Soyrizo, fries, sour cream). I'm a regular!

This is sad, but the food was very boring. We thought it would be wonderful based on the reviews, but the carne asada was not tasty and we had two of those burritos. One of the kids had the enchiladas and she liked those so maybe we just ordered the wrong thing. There is no seating for a family of... More

Burritos and tacos are really fresh. The fish taco I had made me order twice ... There are 3 tables for 4 (sits 12) inside, so in crowded hours is a grab and go. Worth every cent. 'Don Carlos' himself commands the place. Great tastes.

Everything tasted fresh and home made. Worth looking for! I visited with my son, he had a cheese, rice and bean burrito and I had the veggie burrito minus the cheese. Delicious!
