The reviews of this place (here and on Chowhound) led me astray: this place would do well to reconfigure priorities. Confusion abounds over whether this place is mainly a fish market (lots of good looking fish, and mainly good-looking well-heeled customers, vying for attention and space with hungry restaurant customers), or a fast-food restaurant with plastic dishes and forks, self-service,... Nice new venue. Great, fresh seafood served either in a burrito or sandwich, on a salad or with vegetables and rice. Burritos seem to be the best deal overall. Very friendly local staff behind the counter. The only possible drawback is that there are no reservations; food is served cafeteria style. You order food, get a number and wait for... More

If you like fresh fish and a laid back vibe, it would be crazy to miss this place while in La Jolla. Delicious food, especially the grilled fish tacos. We visited twice in one week! And if you're lucky enough to have access to a kitchen or grill while visiting, consider getting your fish from the on-site market. Well done,... More

I had high hopes when I came in for some fresh, delicious fish. They have a good assortment, so I figured I was in for a tasty treat. I was a little disappointed. I got my fish in sandwich form and excitedly took my lunch to go to enjoy a couple blocks down by the ocean. The sandwich was a... More

I was looking for a great place for lunch and had high hopes for El Pescador. From the start, it was so unorganized, from ordering food to finding a table. When we finally got a table, and I had to stalk to land one; no one cleaned it and I had to clean in myself! Lunch was expensive and for... More

Very good choice for fresh fish lots of choices and very fresh and well prepared. The Cioppino is amazing and the Sword fish was as moist and tender as I have ever had not to mention the service was great.

Enjoy the seaside fresh seafood in La Jolla. A great and simple menu. Eat fresh Eat healthy , Eat Now!! the Fish Tacos are the best, the chowder will warm your belly, and I will be trying it all again soon!! Get there early, because it fills up. You may have to wait, and its worth it!

We ate there 3/1/15. Staff behind the counter is surly, unhelpful, and a liability to the place. Food is good. We are locals and dine out a lot. we'll never go back to this place. Try the Fishery in Pacific Beach! It's better food and the service is good.
