Visited when staying with friends who swear by the place. Interesting ordering process with fresh cuts of fish on display and friendly wait staff to walk you through the simple process. The fish soup is to die for and seems to be the most popular item. For mains, our group had the Big Eye Hawaian Tuna and the Alaskan King... More

El Pescador is one of that place that when you go, you become a customer right away. Now they have opened the new location across the street from the old one. It got even better. The seafood is so fresh, and no wonder why? it's always pack with people. My favorite choices: Mexican shrimp sandwich (w avo), alaskan halibut sandwich,... More

This was place was great. Looks like a good fish market, but we got food to go. I had a shark and shrimp burrito with black bean, rice, and avocado which is one of the tastiest things I've ever had. My wife had a kids portion of grilled fish and rice which was fresh and tasty. If you're in La... More

This is probably the worst food experience I've ever had. When we walked into the restaurant at 1:00 in the afternoon, it was crowded and smelled very fishy. I saw them breaking down fish in the back, so assumed that everything was fresh. I shouldn't have second guessed myself. The seating was limited and I grabbed seating at the shared... More

If you don't feel like dressing up for a fancy fish dinner in La Jolla, this is the place to go. They use to be in a small fish market that made plates...customers lined out the door. Now they've move across the street and created an actual restaurant with seating. There's still a line but worth it. Not as fun... More

We went to eat here by a nice review from our tripadvisor and let me say it was indeed fresh and the menu is quite diverse. I had the Shaper sandwich and I added the avocado to it with a glass of wine. Very nice and tasty. My husband had the swordfish and it was good as well. Parking a... More

You can either order and eat in the restaurant. You always see what you will get as all the food is exposed. You can also buy and take home. Everything is always very fresh. We were never disappointed. Expect lines in the evenings and on Saturdays and Sundays.

On our last evening in La Jolla just before Labor Day, after a long walk along the beach looking for an out of the ordinary place for dinner, we came across El Pescador Fish Market. We saw people lining up outside. The line moved quickly. We figured that the line meant that seafood here should be fresh, and indeed they... More

So I'm going to guess Im in the minority, as I know this place has been a very popular restaurant for many(at its older location across the street...) I ate lunch here with another 5 people. The restaurant is nicely done, smelly as you walk in, I guess to be expected in a place that sells fish... Tables can be... More

Now in new location across the street with more parking and more seating in a nice newly remodeled restaurant. The fresh fish counter has a great selection to take home or they have a long list of fresh fish that can be prepared as a sandwich, salad or plate with rice. I had the halibut sandwich today with added avocado!... More
