We are Bostonians and quite used to fresh fish so we were thrilled to find El Pescador in La Jolla. We arrived early from hiking - it's a casual restaurant - and by the time we left the place was packed. We had Ahi and swordfish plates filled with delicious fish, done just right and excellent rice and veggies. The... More

Very fresh fish, caught by the owners. Not overly fancy or disguised by sauces, it's honest seafood prepared simoly and well. The store sells uncooked fish to the locals as well as serving prepared meals. The place defines authentic.

El Pescador used to be a small fish market and 'restaurant'. It was always busy, always packed and in consequence it grew out of its space and crossed the street into a much larger space with more of a real restaurant quality without losing its fish market business. In visiting with friends, we had dinner there twice and the visits... More

Fresh Fish of every kind to chose from and they grill or saute it any way you like right there! It is a bit noisy, but a very good casual dining experience. It also offers take out and many people coming in to buy fish to cook at home. There is a huge high top beautiful wood bar table in... More

Saw fishermen bringing in their catch on my first visit. I was so impressed with my yellowtail sandwich that I went back 3 days later and had another one! I would be a regular customer if I lived here. Would love to try cooking some of this fresh seafood myself at home.

A fish market with an outstanding diner. Menu features over 20 different types of fish and seafood. You order at the front, then choose a table. It gets crowded after 6 PM, so come early. The menu features sandwich or a salad or a full dinner for each kind of fish. I had the yellowfin dinner the first night and... More

Just in case you think nothing about my trip to San Diego made me happy, I want to dispel that notion. The food in this place is truly amazing! If you need fancy wine, candlelight and wait persons in tuxedos - then perhaps this is not the place for you. If you want outstanding food at a reasonable price -... More

I usally get my fresh fish, oysters or sandwich to go. The guys behind the counter are nothing but helpful. The quality of the fish is great if not excellent. This past year Pescador moved across the street to a bigger space and now have a cool restaurat atmosphere. The oder is still take at the counter and now there... More

Not only do I love their fresh salads and fresh crab, but the new building is a great improvement over the small cramped across the street and it has a great open, inviting feeling. To the right side is the kitchen and fish market, in the middle are communal tables and along the window are 4-tops, a great way to... More
