Great Sushi and Fun Evening

We've been driving by this restaurant for years and finally decided to try it out. We were not disappointed! First the staff was very friendly, and educated us about the happy hours going on at the bars. We opted for a table, so we'd have no time pressure. We had the Captain Crunch Roll and... read more

Stayed one night in Kings Beach on 2014 road trip to State Parks in western US. After we had checked in at the hotel we walked around the little village and chosed Hiro Sushi for our dinner. We actually had Sashimi and edamer beans. It was very fresh and had a good taste. I can only recommand this very good... More

All you can eat sushi happy hour--you become part of a small community, watch your food prepared from the freshest ingredients, try Hiro's suggestions, savor delicious delicacies until you can eat no more. The Hawaiian is my favorite.

First time visit, sat in front bar, ordered sashimi that was cut up in half an avocado (?), recommend rainbow roll... consider take-out too.

Small place with good variety of very tasty sushi. We ate at a table. Bar seating also available. Friendly service.

The most difficult aspect of our most recent visit was the contrast between what we were served and what Hiro and his buddies were served just down the bar from us. Three tablespoons of soggy seaweed salad for $6.00. Sushimi platter with cucumber under the fish so the portions look larger $16.00. The rest small and sad. Meanwhile Hiro is... More

Limited seating. Horrible service. Fishy-smelling fish. Small proportions. And expensive. I'm not sure if there was a single thing I enjoyed about the experience. I guess the company, but they didn't really have anything to do with that. I'd rather get sushi from the grocery store, then at least, I wouldn't feel so cheated.

I go to Hiro's every time I visit North Lake Tahoe. Check out the great Happy Hour specials and time your visit. Specials are good in the bar, but they do have ONE table in the bar in the bay window, so I try for this if I come with friends. I also enjoy the sushi bar. Best appetizer there... More

We have been coming here for years and the sushi is great! The hamachi and salmon are the best I have ever had. The albacore is terrific. The Hawaiian is also great. No question about it. If you want a deal, then sit at the bar and order all you can eat for 1 hour. Happy hour is also a... More

Went here for sushi after reading some of the positive tripadvisor posts. The sushi is ok, not great. Had a Hawaiian roll, maybe yielded 5 pieces, real skimpy on the Ahi, cost was about $12 for none roll. What followed was equally unimpressive and costly. Sushi is not cheap and I am well aware of it. We eat sushi fairly... More
