The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset ... the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly “Artisanal Cocktails”.

I don't give 5 stars easily, but this restaurant earns it. Every dish had a unique touch that made it special -- and delicious. Examples: the tomatoe/mozarella appetizer was different from any I have ever had (I won't spoil the surprise). The strawberry ice cream was possibly the best ever. Sole was perfection. The only slight quibble would be the... More

After visiting the Armstrong National Park, we drove the 30 minutes to the coast and had a late lunch at the only place it seemed to find a meal in Jenner, River's End Restaurant, which is located right on Hwy 1. It is certainly your typical tourist stop, and has been there forever, so you know it is going to... More

River's End is a small place that usually has a line out the door when they open. But you can reserve on Open Table, and if you do, you usually get a prime window seat. The views of the point where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean are wonderful, so try to get a window table. Food is creative... More

The best location for great food and spectacular sunsets. Did have a slight problem using open table for our last visit. Had 2 reservations 1 table of 4 and 1 table of 6. When we arrived the hostess had tables for 16 people reserved. She was upset and basically blamed us for the restaurant losing money that night. Even after... More

I had salmon caught the night before just offor the coast as it is king salmon season. It was cooked to perfection! So umoist & on the low side of medium the way I like it! The sauce was so unique - sweet tangy stone ground musturd flavor - really nice & not too strong. Get service too. I recommend!

Rick made this unique venue outstanding for our drop in lunch. He not only told us all about the restaurant, the area and the locally sourced menu, he helped us plan a winery tour to suit our tastes and price points. Plan to return for dinner which is their most special culinary experience.

We had an expensive and mediocre lunch yesterday when driving up the coast. We live in Berkeley, and do enjoy good food, whether it be inexpensive take out or fine dining. We had fish and chips and a Vegetable Neopolitan, both very underwhelming. The veggie dish sat on two thin, tough, and dry slabs of tofu, and the whole thing... More
