The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset - the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly "Artisanal Cocktails".

This restaurant was our dining choice for our 30th wedding anniversary, and for four reasons: built on a cliff overlooking the mouth of the Russian River at Jenner (the nearby "town") the view is simply incomparable at sunset even on an overcast day; the food is pretty terrific; it was literally strolling distance from our hotel; and finally, we have... Stopped in for lunch. I had the fish and chips and my wife a shrimp pasta. Not an extensive menu but excellent! food. Very good service and absolutely amazing view overlooking the mouth of the Russian River and its beach. Only regret that we couldn't pack it back home with us.

The food was delicious, the staff was kind and the wine list was plentiful. We were there after dark, but the views would undoubtedly be stunning in daylight...My husband had the sole and I had the duck wontons. We also shared the local oysters and a bottle of wine from Mendocino...Worth every dime.

This restaurant sits on a cliff where the Russian River ends and empties into the wild Northern California Pacific Ocean. What a gorgeous site for this small wood and glass restaurant! The food is outstanding, and the servers are quite delighted to talk about the history of the property and the preparation of the food -- IF you ask. Sit... More

My wife and planned our trip to arrive for a relaxing late lunch , as we had been there before with a incredible experience , food and view was great , but service was poor , as the waiter was going out of his way for some guests some guests were being given not much better than a road side... My husband and I arrived at this breathtaking restaurant before they were open for dinner. We chose to sit out on the deck and enjoy a glass of wine. The view and setting is just spectacular. Such a relaxing stop on route to wine country. A little out of the way, but so worth the experience.

The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. The oysters with the Mingionette sauce are a must try as well as the Creme Brulee and the ocean view was perfect addition to the experience! Highly recommended but be prepared to spend a little.

I stopped there with a dear friend on the way back from a road trip up the coast. It was dusk and the place was packed, people waited on the balcony outside , taking pics of the river flowing into the Pacific ocean, in the sunset light... The food was good, though the dessert was very disappointing: home made kiwi... More

Would not have gone into this restaurant if not recommended. What a shame that would have been. The views were amazing and the food was better than the views. It is not pretentious, just great food, great views, and a great setting. Don't miss this place. It would be easy to drive by this little town and not stop.
