The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset ... the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly “Artisanal Cocktails”.

Wonderful lunch; Great view

We followed the Russian River out to the Pacific coast and came upon River's End. As the view is magnificent we stopped in for lunch. Perched on the cliff side the view of the ocean, beach and rock formations is spectacular even if it is not totally clear weather. Our lunch was delicious; 2 family... read more

We made reservations via Open Table to celebrate our anniversary while on a short trip to the NCal coast. This was listed by our Bodega Bay hotel as a 'destination dinner' and we thoroughly enjoyed the half-hour drive on a beautiful spring evening. The hostess had picked out a special table for us (fortunately a very quiet night) that faced... More

Dinner was fabulous . Food really special. but open table reservations did not work properly. They did not have our reservations booked. Fortunately they were able to get us in. Downside, tables a little small and tables were cramped together. Carpet was dirty. Decor could use updating. Decorating did not match the food quality. Great view but book dinner during... More

We drove out to Highway 1 to watch the sunset and before we knew it, my friends and I were starving. This little placed caught our eye as a potential hidden treasure. The restaurant was really busy for a Tuesday night and it took our waiter a little while to get to our table. But other than a little bit... More

Outstanding in every way. On a whim, we drove from Healdsburg for dinner on a Sunday early evening. We were seated within 10 minutes and had a fabulous dinner. The mushroom soup was superb and the beat salad great. The prawns and pasta was also terrific. I tried one of the signature cocktails, the Sea of Cortez. It was so... More

The food was very good. The oysters very small but with a delicious vinegar sauce. The food I thought was reasonably priced considering the view from the interior of the restaurant and its terrace. We really enjoyed our lunch there.

My sister and I wanted just oysters for lunch. We usually eat them without anything. But the waiter told us that they had a special way of serving it. It turned out it was amazing. It came in half of a dozen and with wuasabi seasoned fish eggs and some other seasoning in it. And we ordered other fish dish... More

We happened to visit on Tueday, 'Local's Night', though we are not exactly locals, so the menu options abounded. This is a lovely, historic, oceanside roadhouse that always surprises and delights. We went for fish - mussels, bay crab, sole, but other stuff looked great, too. On Tuesdays, they do down home stuff like burgers and meatloaf that looked delicious.... More

We had lunch here and while the place is cramped, with little parking, and sort of off-the-beaten-path, we were surprised at how good our meals were. Fish and Chips were light and crispy, tuna tartare fresh and flavorful, duck egg rolls were crispy and light. More than adequate local wine list. It was clear to us the professionals in the... More
