Patio Dining at a Resturant from the past.

To start, we loved the atmosphere in the outdoor garden, quaint but romantic. The food was excellent, except the escargot had tarrogon which we do not prefer in our escargot. Other than that the trout, caesar salad, and dessert was commendable. Cherry, our server, was fantastic in all aspects... read more

The good part: nice patio setting, accepted to serve us dinner very late at night, server was nice and professional, great local wine list at very moderate prices. The not so great: did not have my first two wine selections, food was bland

This hotel is perfect for history lovers. Continously in opetation since 1859, you can magine yourself as a time traveler. It even has a resident ghost. Pioneers dealt with warm weather because they had to, I on the other hand prefer my hotels to have a working AC. Attempting relief by cracking a window open failed due to sweltering temperatures... This is the second time going to the National Hotel Restaurant and both times we were very impressed. The dishes are gormet quality, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is great with inside and outside seating options. Both times our visit was for special occasions and the National Hotel Restaurant delivered above our expectations making the celebration extra memorable... More

We eat here when ever we can. Great food. Wonderful surroundings. Lots of History of Jamstown on the walls. Fabulous proprietor. Not to be missed. Plan early for a period room.

We stayed overnight in Jamestown enroute to Yosemite National Park. We couldn't get a room as they were fully booked but we went for drinks and dinner. The hotel is very quirky and was built back in the Gold Rush time. The bar is the old saloon bar and we were welcomed by the manager. We sat at the bar... More

What a nice"old (1959 good rush)" hotel & restaurant. Enthusiastic proprietor and kind personnel. We got here on our way from Yosemite to SFO by accident and really recommend it for a stay and a traditional diner. These chefs know how to cook with fresh (own garden growth) ingredients. Btw they serve an outstandingly choice of wines.

We stopped here on our way to Tahoe so only had time for a coffee and cake. We only put our nose through the door to have a quick look at the inside but the staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly and told us to do a tour of the downstairs to look at all the old... More

We have been frequenting the National Hotel & Restaurant for over two decades. Proprietor Stephen Willey is always monitoring the food and service to insure a five star experience. The wine menu is extraordinary, concentrating on prize winning vineyards located in the Sierra foothills. Our favorite wine selections are by Gianelli Vineyards, who have a tasting room two blocks down... More

We traveled here with a large tour group, and they did a beautiful job of handling us all. The food was fantastic! The homemade soups are to die for - don't miss that treat! Service was fast, personalized and friendly, even dealing with a large group who all showed up at once. Overall, every single one of us enjoyed our... More
