Fantastic little place!

We stayed overnight in Jamestown enroute to Yosemite National Park. We couldn't get a room as they were fully booked but we went for drinks and dinner. The hotel is very quirky and was built back in the Gold Rush time. The bar is the old saloon bar and we were welcomed by the manager. We sat at... read more

What a nice"old (1959 good rush)" hotel & restaurant. Enthusiastic proprietor and kind personnel. We got here on our way from Yosemite to SFO by accident and really recommend it for a stay and a traditional diner. These chefs know how to cook with fresh (own garden growth) ingredients. Btw they serve an outstandingly choice of wines.

We stopped here on our way to Tahoe so only had time for a coffee and cake. We only put our nose through the door to have a quick look at the inside but the staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly and told us to do a tour of the downstairs to look at all the old... More

We have been frequenting the National Hotel & Restaurant for over two decades. Proprietor Stephen Willey is always monitoring the food and service to insure a five star experience. The wine menu is extraordinary, concentrating on prize winning vineyards located in the Sierra foothills. Our favorite wine selections are by Gianelli Vineyards, who have a tasting room two blocks down... More

We traveled here with a large tour group, and they did a beautiful job of handling us all. The food was fantastic! The homemade soups are to die for - don't miss that treat! Service was fast, personalized and friendly, even dealing with a large group who all showed up at once. Overall, every single one of us enjoyed our... More

So, we wanted a light evening meal having eaten a heavy lunch late. I had reservations at the National Hotel for dinner, and decided to go... We used the appetizer menu and picked the Filo Dough and Baked Brie with honey and almonds (awesome)... Crunchy, crispy, and dripping with hone on bread, some would consider it too sweet, but, the... Many choices on the menu, I chose salmon with dill sauce which was perfectly prepared and not too rich. For dessert, I had the apricot flambe over bon-bons and it was very rich but delicious!

We enjoy a dining experience here 1x-2x per year. For over 20 years. We wish that they would remember us, but no matter, we are always greeted with courtesy and friendliness. The food is always nicely prepared. We have NEVER sent anything back to the kitchen. There is a full bar, plus the staff is knowledgeable about their inventory of... More

This is not to be missed. We eat here every time we're down in this area. The mushroom burger is fantastic! If you have a chance to dine here, do! They have the best food. You will want to lick your plate clean. Food is excellent. Great atmosphere.
