Very good Italian restaurant in Irvine

I ate lunch at the Lucca Cafe twice in one week. The first time ever with my brother and sister and then second time with my wife. We ate on the patio both times. It starts getting crowded by 11:30, so arrive earlier if you can. The first time I tried their Chicken and Fennel Sausage Carabonara... read more

My most recent experience at Lucca -- a quick lunch on a weekday -- wasn't as positive as some earlier visits. The menu is more limited and the choices didn't grab me. The service was inattentive. So, I probably won't return for lunch, but will probably for a future dinner.

The lunch hour always appears to be very busy and loud. We chose to sit inside away from the noisy patio and really enjoyed being able to talk. The food and service were outstanding. Recommend eating a late lunch here to avoid the crowds and noise.

We went here to try something new for a joint family birthday celebration. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. We were at a table for 30 minutes and no one came over to take our order or even offer us a drink or glass of water. We asked the hostess if anyone would be by to take our... More

We ate here for my son's birthday. It was a great find-delicious food, relaxing patio, and great service and food. There were five of us, a few vegetarians and a few carnivores... we were all happy and well fed! Salads and cheese plates were excellent, the entree delicious and dessert...over the top! We sat for hours eating anddchatting, we were... More

Visited for an evening meal recently and wasn't that impressed. There are much better Italian restaurants in Irvine and OC area. The inside is very drab and they could do so much more to give an Italian feel. Service was good but the food not that great. We both had a pasta dish and there was lots of pasta but... More

This was a great restaurant to have a sunny patio brunch for mother's Day with Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, breakfast foods, individually made omelets and Italian pasta and salads. Probably would have been a problem it it had rained as inside seating was limited.

Terrific Service, great Minestrone soup. Met my daughter there for lunch. We were actually able to converse with each other without being drowned out y background noise.

Very nice trendy restaurant. Nice patio. Very good Tri-tip sandwich and Tri-tip salad. Very busy lunch...even with average entree averaging $15. The service was average. In a very nice strip mall.

We had never been here before, and came during Restaurant Week to try the place out. I'm super glad that we did. We will definitely return. Pros: Not only was the food very tastefully prepared and presented, but the flavors were delightful. My wife and I tried the brussels sprouts appetizer, land and sea (steak and shrimp), pappardelle noodles with... More
