Good if you know your wines

Nice classy place to bring a date or wife, terrific wine selection if you're a wine lover. Food a little bit on the girly side, nothing big or meaty, and fairly expensive. A couple of glasses of wine apiece and a light dinner is $100 a couple.

We discovered Lucca several years ago when it first opened. Unfortunately, others have discovered our hidden treasure. The food is creative and delicious. Lucca offers both small plates and large plates with a seasonal menu. There is literally something for everyone, from vegans to carnivores. Lucca has a nicely priced and interesting wine list. We go there often.

First visit, stopped for lunch waiting for appointment. Waitress suggested the ravioli lunch special. It was delicious and right size for lunch. Service and suggestions perfect.

I've eaten at Lucca a couple of times recently and have been pleased with the experience. The food is tasty and the service good. The menu is predictable for the area and includes some pasta dishes as well as a couple of seafood and meat options. Nothing wowed me, but nothing disappointed either. So, Lucca is certainly good for a... More

Meatballs on the appetiser menu are bomb.com! Great selection of wine and their cheese platter is wonderful as well.

Held a business dinner here with some people who joined our company though an acquisition The menu options were good, the food was fresh and interesting. I wish they offered more drink options. Also the tables were packed closely together and it felt claustrophobic. I kept bumping chairs with the people behind me. They were a noisy group who talked... More

We had dinner last night and I was not impressed. Food and service are just ok for the price they charge. First, the waiter warns you, the dishes might not all come together because they are cooked one at a time. I ordered the scampi flat noodle dish $17.50. I asked if they can substitute the noodles for linguinis (... More

We liked the food. service was good and the outdoor patio is nice -- too bad it is right on the parking lot access road. But all things considered, it is a good place to go.

After some time away I decided to give Lucca another chance, and they failed. Again. Given the scarcity of decent restaurants in Irvine that are not a chain I truly would like Lucca to succeed but they continue to fall far short both in their food and service. The food is just OK and sometimes teetering into poor, and the... More

A friend described Lucca as a Santa Monica restaurant in Irvine. Interesting, changing menus, well-sized (not humungous) portions, top notch wine list for those who care. Been there for lunch and dinner. They only do brunches on weekends, now.
