We specialize in serving authentic Mexican food from secret family recipes, including seafood specialties, plus cocktails from a full bar! Our Chiles Gueritos are a popular local favorite - shrimp stuffed yellow peppers topped with mayo and soy sauce. Our restaurant offers a unique dining experience that's just like eating at home with family and friends. The "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" of the trains passing by on the train tracks behind us is also something you'll never forget! Wonderful!

This is going to become one of my three favorite Mexican restaurants in the Desert! We had chile verde and their trademark dish, chile gueritos. We ate here with family one night while traveling through the area. It was recommended by our hotel clerk and again, the local suggestion was great. We were lucky to get a table as there was live music that night and the place was packed. The food was authentic Mexican style and very good. The "band" consisted of two older... More

This is a small, family run restaurant (they have a 2nd one which I have not tried). The food is authentic, the service is excellent and the decor is divey (like many family run restaurants in Baja). A good variety of selections and there is bar service. Locals love this place and we found it to be the best small... More

A lovely little restaurant with excellent food and service, but the highlight for me is always the shrimp stuffed peppers. They are absolutely delicious. The margaritas are excellent too. This is really a gem of a restaurant, not to be missed.

Every winter I visit California and El Mexicali café is my first restaurant of choice ...can hardly wait to have "Chiles Gueritos de Camarónes" again! They have a good selection of various Mexican dishes, and you can make your own combination from the á la carte section. I've been there for lunch and dinner, and the food is consistently good.... above average Mexican food. small, clean restaurant. shrimp-stuffed yellow peppers and ceviche were excellent and fish was fresh. top shelf margaritas were pricey, but good. would come back for more.

We met some local friends here for lunch and it was delicious. They insisted we have the shrimp appetizers, and despite how wierd they sounded, they were yummy. We added the mayo, lemon and soy sauce just like they told us. An overall delicious meal, and it was taco Tuesday, so there were some discounts.

we went to El Mexicali today, go every year, especially for the chills gueritos rellenos de cameron. They are unusual and delicious. We had very good service , knowing we couldn't eat a full meal each, our waitress suggested we share, and they plated the meal for us , no extra charge. It's not fancy but clean and the food and... The Shrimp poppers were one of the best appetizers I have experienced anywhere in the world!. No return visit to the little 34 year old neighborhood Mexican Resturante will ever go without this treat. Small space but not to small for two mariachi singers to join the evening crowd and take recommendations from the diners as well as play popular... More

My first experience at this restaurant was really great, so we went back last week for a repeat. Unfortunately, I found the food and the service to be nowhere near the quality as before. Also, the restaurant was unbelievably loud. I do like their chips and salsa, but they don't give enough salsa at all.

Thank you for returning for a second visit. We appreciate your feedback. We're sorry to hear your second visit wasn't what you'd experienced the first time.
