We specialize in serving authentic Mexican food from secret family recipes, including seafood specialties, plus cocktails from a full bar! Our Chiles Gueritos are a popular local favorite - shrimp stuffed yellow peppers topped with mayo and soy sauce. Our restaurant offers a unique dining experience that's just like eating at home with family and friends. The "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" of the trains passing by on the train tracks behind us is also something you'll never forget! Opened in 1981, El Mexicali Cafe on Indio Blvd. Is one of the longest-running woman-owned eateries in the Coachella Valley. El Mexicali Cafe Day was establishes on March 19 in the City of Indio, and you can typically count on something special at the restaurant to celebrate the occasion.

We've been coming here for about two years now. What I like most is that it's consistently good. You know each time you order something, it's going to be fresh and delicious. The BEST thing on the menu is their Chiles Gueritos. I just wish they'd share this well-guarded secret recipe. It is so good. It's a casual restaurant, margaritas... More

We grabbed dinner on our way through town and were pleasantly surprised to find some very good Mexican food here. The menu had some great choices but it was exceptionally hot out so we got two different cheviche, both very good well worth eating thought but not quite at the extra ordinary level we are used to at our favorite... This is the place for authentic Mexican food. We are Canadians who live fulltime in Mexico. On our way back to Canada for a visit we felt like having some good Mexican food. We "loved" the chili/shrimp appetiser, the salsa, chips and wonderful, friendly service. My wife loves sopas and she kept exclaiming how great they were. I had excellent... More

We enjoy this restaurant. Their shrimp stuffed peppers are amazing. They also have low carb dishes and skinny margaritas. Their happy hour deals are great also.

A hidden Gem. Went there saturday and sunday for breakfast. We tried the Green sauce Chilaquiles and Chili Verde Egg plate on saturday. the Chili Relleno and Potatos with chorizo and eggs. Everything was great. From the refried beans and tortillas, coffee to the very last drop. Nothing was left. The friendly service from Lupe and the other waitresses made... More

The Poppers, margaritas and service are excellent. My family and I never pass this place when traveling to the River! We have had just about everything on menu. Don't skip it, or it will be your loss!

Very small approx. 20 tables. We didn't have to wait for a seat getting here before the Sunday Lunch rush. Food was hot and delicious. Chips and Salsa were complimentary. Will stop again on our way back through. Only negative comment I have, bathrooms are located outside of restaurant and have NO air conditioning.
