Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem...
TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!

We didn't eat here!

We went for breakfast, but left. We wanted a hardy, regular breakfast and while Cafe Aroma had a nice menu, it just wasn't what our taste buds were calling for. If the four foods above are the base of your food pyramid, then you will like Cafe Aroma. My companion's chicken ravioli was drenched in cream sauce and covered with parmesan. My salmon and asparagus entree left a pool of melted butter and oil on the plate. The quality of ingredients is good, but for my taste the cuisine is... More

Cafe Aroma is a small place, but it has a nicely varied menu and everything we have had during our visits has been excellent. I especially recommend the gnocci at dinner and the garlic bisque soup is wonderful. They serve fresh wholesome bread with your meals and that is a special treat as well. We always make sure to eat... More

Great idea for boosting patronage on a typically slow night - half price wine by the bottle! Dinner entrees were delicious but the mushroom ravioli was amazing, as were the desserts (tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake)! Enjoyed a nice Napa Valley Pinot Noir for $13 for the bottle. Good service, just a bit too cozy and dark inside, though.

.. sounds like the plot of a Shakespearean comedy, but it's actually a delicious marriage of scallops on shrimp, belted together with a narrow strip of bacon. The menu is a delightful blend of the familiar and off the beaten path. I had the Garlic Bisque and Aroma Alfredo with mushrooms and my wife had the Pastelas (an empanada) and... More

This was one of several times we have eaten here, but not in the last year or so. The restaurant is currently being remodeled and the seating is very limited. The food has never disappointed. They create very flavorful dishes that are not too spicy or rich, but always good. The staff is excellent and very attentive. We were there... More

Remodeling now but still good food and service, just limited in the seating! Sometimes sitting inside is a bt loud when they have music, I enjoy the quieter outdoors!

Reserve in advance, as it's very difficult to obtain a table- but, it's worth the effort. It's the best food in Idyllwild.

They brought our dog a water bowl and he got to sit with us on the outdoor deck. Love the food and ambiance. We go here every time we come to Idyllwild and always love it. Reservations needed on the week-end.
