Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!

They serve really good bread with olive oil and fresh garlic. I ordered their special vichyssoise type soup which was watery and not very well seasoned, and the house salad, which was OK. The atmosphere was touristy/dated/barely OK.

Great atmosphere. Bread with garlic olive oil is to die for. Marshall Merlot is my favorite beverage. Food is fresh, unique and tasty. Live music is such a plus. My favorite lunch spot. I want to move to the town just so I can eat there more often. Servers are always working and attentive.

We were looking for a delicious unpretentious meal in Idyllwild. Something tasty, with an interesting menu and ambiance and Cafe Aroma checked off everything on our list. We arrived for dinner - and definitely suggest that you make reservations. We sat in the main dining room, which was really cozy with local photography on all of the walls. Much like... More

We stumbled upon Cafe Aroma on a dreary Sunday. The interior is warm and inviting, plus there was a guitarist playing some ethereal background music totally appropriate to the pine tree surroundings. We ordered the "Peasant Lunch" - garlic bisque and salad. Since it's still close enough to New Year's, we decided to also enjoy a glass of champagne. We will... More

My wife and I have attended the Idyllwild Film Festival three times, and each time we have eaten a meal at Cafe Aroma. The food has been unfailingly tasty and well served in a most delightful setting. We have had fish and we have had pasta, and we have been pleased each time. This time, though we had no reservation... More

The duck breast compared nicely to the meals we enjoyed in an area in France, known for its duck, Dordogne Perigord. Cafe Aroma's Chef served it up with grilled pear, which accented the flavors. Each of us loved the food as well as the presentation, but the private room added to the joy of the evening. Our host reserved the... More

They think the food is better than it is. Really. If you order the pricey items maybe its great - but I've felt like the place is slightly precious for the $$.

Great atmosphere and cuisine hosted and presented with loving care and consciousness unlike any where else. The art and music is great as well. Worth a trip up the mountain to enjoy.

We loved the Chicken Parm sandwich. I had the lasagne and the garlic bisque soup. The salted caramel cake was delicious. We ate in the library.
