Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem...
TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!

This was one of several times we have eaten here, but not in the last year or so. The restaurant is currently being remodeled and the seating is very limited. The food has never disappointed. They create very flavorful dishes that are not too spicy or rich, but always good. The staff is excellent and very attentive. We were there... More

Remodeling now but still good food and service, just limited in the seating! Sometimes sitting inside is a bt loud when they have music, I enjoy the quieter outdoors!

Reserve in advance, as it's very difficult to obtain a table- but, it's worth the effort. It's the best food in Idyllwild.

They brought our dog a water bowl and he got to sit with us on the outdoor deck. Love the food and ambiance. We go here every time we come to Idyllwild and always love it. Reservations needed on the week-end.

This review is a long time coming but better late than never. I took guests here on two occasions for breakfast last spring and both times received excellent service and tasty, well presented meals. The outdoor setting really added to the ambience. Definitely recommended.

We had read good things about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It is VERY small inside so I can see why reservations are recommended. However we lucked out and got there a little after 530pm on Friday night and they accommodated us. I ate one of the house specials - a sirloin steak with mashed potatoes... More

My husband and I stopped by Cafe Aroma because the innkeeper at Strawberry Creek (who is also on a very restrictive diet) mentioned to me that he goes there often. He told me they knew all about the "paleo diet", that the food was good and I wouldn't have any problem finding something to eat. Sadly that was not true... More

Four of us visited Idyllwild recently and enjoyed one dinner at Cafe Aroma. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. I has the sausage lasagna, my wife had seared ahi, one friend had the osso bucco and the other had a garlic basil soup. They all felt that their meals were excellent and I tasted each entree and agree with... More

We weren't disappointed when we stumbled across this little gem. Super cute inside, a really nice guitarist playing in the background, food was really good. The wine selection was great too. Will be going back next time we are in town
