Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem...
TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!

We stopped by Cafe Aroma for lunch because of recommendations from friends and we were glad we did. We were there for a late lunch and, not surprisingly Cafe Aroma was out of several interesting items. However that was fine with us because what we ordered was wonderful. I ordered a simple breakfast dish: two eggs with upside mashed browns.... More

Sean and I have been coming to Idylwild for hiking. But this is the 1st time we tried "Cafe Aroma". The "Pine Woods Resort" where we stayed, suggested we try it. Since the resort is great, we took their suggestion. We were not let down! The plates are huge! They don't have full alcohol license, but wines, beer and a... More

Porch is really nice in good weather. Had dinner there twice. Salmon Paixao is nice. Also enjoyed scallops and shrimp scampi. The bread is addictive. Meeting Hebert was also a treat.

Have been to this spot several times now. Most recently for my anniversary. Each time the food is terrific with some unique and creative items on the menu. The ambiance is excellent and the new outdoor patio was perfect for a spring evening. There has always been some live music beginning in the evening and it is a place we... More

Italian food. I ordered the Caesar salad and a salmon entree. The lettuce in the Caesar was old, not appealing to look at and I left a lot of it on the plate, but the dressing was very good. The salmon was a nice size, cooked very nicely and was very good. The mashed potatoes and veggies were good. My... More

The food was good and the atmosphere was relaxing. They are undergoing renovation next door, but it was at the end of work day, so not a lot of noise. The wait person was very nice and attentive.

We toured up through Idyllwild from Indio & was recommended this place by some locals we met at a scenic turn off the road. It was delicious. Great, natural, home-made cooking. Perfect serving size. Lovely service. Recommended.

We went for breakfast, but left. We wanted a hardy, regular breakfast and while Cafe Aroma had a nice menu, it just wasn't what our taste buds were calling for. I suggest you look at the menu before you go . The staff was very nice for the short time we were there so my rating is only on the... More

If the four foods above are the base of your food pyramid, then you will like Cafe Aroma. My companion's chicken ravioli was drenched in cream sauce and covered with parmesan. My salmon and asparagus entree left a pool of melted butter and oil on the plate. The quality of ingredients is good, but for my taste the cuisine is... More
