Description: TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem...
TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!

The food is good; on the price side for what you get and there is a lot of out of towners there all the time. it gets over crowded fast.

We made our second trip to Cafe Aroma and it was absolutely delicious! We sat in the library and it was cozy and comfortable. The sausage lasagna and chicken ravioli were amazing! We highly recommend this delicious restaurant when you are in Idyllwild!

We were staying in Palm Springs and decided to take a day trip to Idylwild Stopped a local who was walking her dog and asked where to eat lunch. She said Cafe Aroma was best in town. What a cute and quaint place. Our waitress was so friendly we felt like she was family. The menu was very appealing and... More

A highlight of visiting Idyllwild is yet another chance to visit Café Aroma. This holiday season, my husband and I went for dinner New Year's Day (sitting indoors near the bar) then for brunch with our Lab on Sunday a couple days later (sitting outdoors with the heaters to keep us warm). Yet again, we had friendly and professional service,... More

Having eaten here last year we returned with friends for New Years Eve. The Jazz was so loud we had to text across the table to communicate. The pasta was raw, the famous ribeye was tough and the 100 degree room was excessive. On top of the $15 corkage and $25 service fee the dinning experience from last year was... More

We ordered after all members of group were there. Took almost an hour to get our food which was served in smallish serving sizes. I had ordered a bagel, lox and cream cheese with extra capers figuring how could they screw it up- despite the fact they only plain. My bagel arrived with old soggy tomatoes, a stone cold bagel,... Was in town for one night and enjoyed two meals at Cafe Aroma. Lunch, and breakfast. Both were very good and presented well. Service was also very good. I was with a difficult bunch of women and the servers were very accommodating. Nice live music at lunch on the patio. The one bummer was the main dining area was full... More

have stopped in for just a quick sandwich at the Bar, or a full sit down meal with large group...both were great experiences... lovely young polite wait staff and superb food ! and since live music is often playing it makes atmosphere fantastic !

I am very confounded by the other reviewers. Our waitress was rude and abrupt. My sister questioned her less than half full bowl of soup and our server shrugged and ignored the question. The Caesar salad had the strong chemical taste and brown markings of old bag lettuce. The atmosphere was charming and the fish tacos were delicious, however we... More
