The Bread Basket of Idyllwild was a great place to eat. It is gone now and has been for a few years now. Everyone's loss.

My husband and I loved this place a few years ago where the owners made fresh pastries daily and had an interesting menu. We just went there again this July and were very disappointed. In fact, I told my husband to remind me how bad my food was the next time I take a look in that direction. I ordered... More

The pastries are delicious and the soup and salad for lunch is perfect. I love the atmosphere and friendliness.

The Little Chef will continue to struggle until they find their niche. It is barren in comparison to the other restaurants in town. Breakfast was disappointing at best.

Now called "The little chef" my wife and I went there today for lunch. We were appalled at the rude behavior we received just trying to get seated. We were ignored as we stood not five feet from one of the servers who was engrossed in a lengthy conversation with someone.after standing by the hostess station for ten minutes we found a... We used to routinely stop by here after hiking Devil's Slide over the years because of the yummy sandwiches with delicious bread, hearty mashed potatoes, and fresh salads. (We've avoided breakfast and desserts after early negative experiences with fatty, bland ham and marginal, grocery-store-bakery quality pies.) Unfortunately, we stopped coming here for lunch after the quality of bread declined dramatically;... More

We spent an extended weekend in Idyllwild and went to many places recommended to us by townspeople and our Inn. All with either bad food and/or bad service. We finally stopped at Bread Basket, on our own, to find a fantastic, happy & friendly staff and the food was beyond belief (and reasonably priced). We returned for every meal of... More

I have eaten here three times, once with friends for dinner, once with daughter for breakfast, and most lately dinner with husband, The food was delicious, verging on gourmet for a moderate price. We really liked the beer list also and had a great beer from a brewery we did not know. The service was a bit slow, but very... More

Bread Basket has good food and good service. My husband and I didn't run into any problems with the bread at all. It was warm, fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly and very attentive, prices were more than reasonable. Servings are generous for the price. I recommend "Duttons Favorite" and my husband loved their open face roast beef sandwhich. I... More
