The grilled fresh trout I had for dinner here was so good that I drove back into town the next day so I could have it again for lunch. Heaven! My only suggestion would be to make reservations. I showed up by myself and didn't have to wait, but I was probably lucky.

While staying with family in Palm Springs, we took a day trip to Idyllwild in the San Jacinto Mountains and had lunch at the Gastrognome Restuarant (known simply as “the Gnome” http://www.gastrognome.com). I ordered the eggplant sandwich on focaccia bread; this was served with a salad and a few home fries. My husband enjoyed the Portabella Sandwich - a grilled... More

We had lunch and we both ordered the southwest chicken soup, and I ordered the vegetable grilled sandwich and side of fruit with a glass of house chardonnay and my husband ordered the goat cheese salad and a specialty dark beer. They also brought out fresh hot bread to go with our soup. There was a lot of food and... More

This great little spot was one of two highlights of our trip to Idyllwild. We had a nice 2 hour walk along the scenic Ernie Maxwell trail and then came here for lunch. We sat on the patio in the shade and enjoyed watching the 3 dogs who were also there with their owners. Our waitress was attentive but non-obtrusive,... More

This is a great place to eat in town. A little pricey depending on what you order but the wait staff is very friendly and the food is delicious! Definitely a good place to eat if you want a good, solid meal besides just burger, fries, salads, etc.

Our first visit to Idyllwild. We got recommendations from friends who live there to try it. We stopped for lunch on the patio after a hike. We had salad and a vegetable sandwich both fresh and tasty. The staff was courteous and service excellent. Patio is dog friendly and there a friendly house cat that may pay a visit.

the next day. We sat outside for lunch and had a window seat for the evening meal. Service was wonderful and the food was excellent. It was a little pricey but no more than any top tier restaurant. The atmosphere is great. I would put it right in the same category as Black Angus or the Outback. Quality. Call for... More

My wife and I love this place. It's a bit pricy for dinner but they mitigate that with a Cafe menu that includes a fabulous cheeseburger and fries, vegetable lasagna, chicken & broccoli penne pasta and plenty of other treats. Got out for under $40.00

Ate here on a Friday afternoon. Sat outside to enjoy the nice weather & beautiful scenery. We both ordered salads & they were very good! There was a table of four near us that kept ordering "another round". The more they drank the louder they became. A little hard to ignore, but otherwise it was a good experience.
